the secret to picking up drops before anyone else:

positioning, positioning, positioning!

stand directly below (for example. hell diablo) the target monster, as soon it dies, hold down the shift key so u don't move by miss clicking, hold down the alt key to see drops, and get ready to click on the drops rapid fire (make sure u got room). the only downside, people begin to whine that u have a hack, even though u don't.

I don't even stand on D, i usually run around the star doing random stuff. Or I pick up a load of magics, and drop them were diablo will die. = People picking up alot of ****ty magics, and missing the rares ;) Is funny.

I guess if one does not care about the drops, one could fill up a cube with single square items, fill up your inv too and drop the cube when D is about to pass away. 4 of the single square items(potions ?) will end up in your inventory, the rest will litter the floor.
People will also attempt to pick up your cube, which they probably cannot, since they likely already poses a cube. So your cube will be jumping around for a bit until people realize it's not really a interesting unique.

haha, that's a good one, you can take off and put on your belt too and drop the minor healings that you've been holding in it

Indeed, good point. You can do that right after you drop your cube. :)

Ah, I remember using the belt with 8 stamina potions in the op row, then killing CK and dropping the stamina potions.
Most people just didn't know what it meant, but the few times somebody in the know saw those potions made all the effort worth while. :)

I play hardcore so I also tend to play solo . . . anything that drops is all mine!

private is guaranteed drops, not much secret to getting drops in a private game :P

well, just wanted to throw (post) this out there, in case some noobs or people jsut don't/didn't know about how drops drop and how to get drops or at least have best chance at it. FOR PUBLIC GAMES, since this is where u are competing for drops!!!

things that annoy me to no end:

1. lowest clvl person in 8 player game not leaving party or going to town (hell diablo is still bugged and this must be done or u get "NO/ZERO" exp from him)

2. people leaving their tps up at the star and in the way/blocking your clicking either for spot position for the drops or the drops themselves.

3. people dropping lame stuff at star like mentioned above. i just had some recent games where people would mass drop 1 golds at star.....GRRR

4. exp shrine being touched by wrong person (wasted)

5. exp shrine being touched before diablo is released (wasted)

6. baroning a char didn't want to baron (the host makes an open diablo quest game and i or people don't realize it. so far, i haven't messed up yet with my barb. he is still a lord. woot)

Yeah, cs on west isn't too great. You need to get certain people (ie a din and sorc combo) that run regular runs and stick with them. Some makers don't even warn people when they take shrines...if it was my run they'd get warned and then "banned".

Oh, and you forgot to mention the biggest secret to getting drops - having a decent ping. 200 ping means I might get an item every few games...
