Hello folks! I am back after many years of being gone. I have a few qeustions about what has changed sense I have been gone. First off what class build would be good for a freshly back player? I am into the aoe mass kill thing, I would love to have a class/build that can take me to hell and back, maybe do a bit of MF in the process.
I am going to be playing on solo so leveling wont be that much of an issue.
question about solo though is there any differnece than on live Bnet? such as drops, and what not?
Thanks guys I hope to hear from the vets and get some ideas, have a good peace.

For AoE skills go with a sorceress, either Meteorb or Blizzballer. They work well as MFers as well to get your wealth up to speed.
The only differences between SP and Bnet is that Bnet has the DClone and Uber Tristram scenarios. There are some runewords that are available only on Bnet Ladder, but if you install a Mod (found in SP stickies) then you can have those in SP as well. Beyond that no other differences.

newbie question for above... for AoE skills... doesn't a Lfury zon kills faster (aside from facing a bunch of lighting immunes)?

LF is quite a different feel from real AoE, IMO
one wonderful thing about AoE types with duration is that you can have a monster stand around in it and continually take damage (firewall, meteor), or even while moving around in it (blizzard, fissure, armageddon), or if the monster is big enough, it could be taking more damage (blizzard, fissure, firestorm)
some AoE damagers you need to quickly cover an area with effects (static reduces, frost nova/arcitc blast/holy freeze aura slows, hurricane knockbacks leapers/sanctuary aura knockbacks undead, plague javelin/poison creeper mat prevents monster heal, glacial spike freezes, shockwave/warcry stuns)
and some are plainly quick killers, even with only one monster (Corpse Explosion, poison explosion, poison nova, nova, Fireball, lightning)

perhaps I am OT... but I basically tried many diff builds of all characters...
before, I'm kinda into casters... cuz u r safe n stuff... but then afterwards I like melee... cuz I find fighting in the front is kinda cool... then I start to figure out the melee builds are all expensive and ain't easily affordable to have 100% of the power revealed... then I tried the LFuryzon and I love her a lot...
valk tank + those lightning bolts bouncing back n forth cleaning the room in no time (assume the mobs ain't LI... haha)
Sorcs are cool... perhaps I havent had the uber gears to really see their true power... but they are truly glass canons...
just my 2 cents... ^^

A casting sorceress isn't really supposed to get hit, so being fragile isn't a problem. Their mercenary should tank for them and allow them to stand back and cast spells.
LF Amazons are good fast killers, but not anywhere as good at MFing as a sorceress due to lack of teleport. Even if you gained teleport from an item charge or Enigma Amazons have terrible FCR breakpoints, so won't be as quick as a sorceress. Besides which, the two builds I suggested deal dual elemental damage so can handle any immunities that come their way. LF Amazons have issues in that regard.

u r rite... =)
but how will the sorc do untwinked?
I dunno... the lightning fury is just so flashy to not do it... haha

she will do just fine! if you manage to get her through the first three to four acts, she's good to go, untwinked!
choose zon or sorc, it's really not dependant on ability to play untwinked, as they both do well in it

On the other hand, nobody forces you to mf* in a teleport-required way.
*: in the very wide interpretation of mf.

which would be killing regulars too and not just focussing on bosses

True teleport isn't required to MF, however the way most people seem to MF indicates that teleport would speed things up considerably.

Thanks for all the responds folks appreciate it ^^. as i said I am into AOE but I would also like to have a toon that can go to hell and clear it with out much issue. I am thinking of building a bliz/nova sorc. I heard those are the best. but im not sure.
would it be better for me to go with Bliz/Chain light with both cold and light mastery maxed? and what would I want to max synergins, the light or the frost ones? Thanks folks ^^
