"Set" items: Are they worth holding onto in a "pure" game?

Is there a realistic chance of completing a set in a pure, single player, untwinked game? Or should I just sell stuff because it's damn near impossible to complete a set?

these sets are easy to complete:

sigon's
cathan's
angelic's
arctic
sander's
and some others...

not that they're any good later on though (sigon's are good enough to keep around till act 1 hell)

also, you don't have to complete sets to make good use of the items..
angelics ring and amulet are well worth using throughout hell, if you have AR problems
and sander's boots (40% FRW!) are also good for people who don't need they're shoes for resists/CB/OW

also, any of the really good set items are best used on their own: guillaume's face, laying of hands, bla bla bla
