So I'm considering making the Call To Arms runeword for my hammerdin, and I'm wondering which weapon would be best to socket. I've seen people with both flails and phaseblades, but never a reason as to why they've used that particular item. Would one of those be best, or perhaps something else?

I would use a double axe, same low strength requirment as a crystal sword(43) and they get 5 sockets max. Or flails, they require a little dex tho.

Seems like most people prefer low requireemnts, just incase. lots of people have high dex for max block, so a phaseblade might work, or with high strength you could get cta in a weapon worth swinging... but most people just want the buffs.

Yeah, interesting, thanks. So using a double axe wouldn't affect future tradability if I ever wanted to get rid of it?

It will affect trade value because people are used to crystal swords and flails and there are enough who don't know enough about the game to allow themselves to draw their own conclusions, so they are wary of scams or lies.

Flails are very easy to get. Pick up the first one found in act 2 nightmare (maybe even a bit earlier) or beyond and get it socketed by Larzuk. I'm usually too stingy for using up a precious quest reward and wait for a 5 socket one and I look for one before I have a need for it, just as with a lot of other items.

If your main weapon is a hoto than go for a crystal sword, if it's wizzardspike use whatever you want :)

It's important that your weapons look different so that you don't make a mistake and run around with your bo-switch items on :)

Actually, that's an extremely good point and has pretty much decided me. It's the kind of retarded thing I'd do, forget to switch back to my main weap which is indeed a hoto. Thanks muchly! And thanks also Krischan, you have a point about people being creatures of habit, and I do want to be able to trade it easily later if I decide to. Crystal sword it is!
