Mfing in Nightmare?

Hey Diii community! I was just wondering I’ve been magic finding in 8 player hell a lot recently and got some half decent items, mainly what I’m going to use on my other chars. I feel like taking a break from the risky runs and do Nightmare for a bit, but I was wondering if there is anything worth getting from Nightmare? If so, a few to name would be nice. I heard that you have a better chance of geting SoJ’s from Andy in Nightmare too is this correct? How is that so?

any help? well, here is an eye-opener i got recently:

there is a drop calculator in ATMA under the utility tab. there you can calculate drop chances for any difficulty, types of monsters, item, MF setting, player setting...

really helpful if you wanna find out which good items are better to search for in NM

Yes NM Andariel has the best chance to drop an SoJ. So for what good items can fall from NM bosses, that depends on your definition of a "good" item.

You can get Shaftstop,Tal's Mask, Occulus and Skin of the ViperMagi from Mephisto for example. Basically any Exceptional items can fall in NM, with a very small chance of a few low end Elites in the later stages of Act V. But you won't find items like CoA and Reapers Toll in NM.

As far as "good" goes, im talking about any drops that are typically run on high level builds. For example, the SoJ is used universally and is a very good ring, which, build dependant, is only outclassed by a Rare with good mods on it for PvM.

Another perspective to look at it is any drops that have some value on the market or is in some kind of demand so it can be easily traded. :thumbup:

-bother nightmare diablo for a duriel's shell/arreat's face(stealskull, guillaume's face)/string of ears/war traveler(gore rider), ravenfrost/highlord's
-nightmare andariel for angelic wings(not really in demand, but useful)/soj
-nightmare baal for a laying of hands

well, those are all in some kind of demand..., that's the best i found for NM up till now but there's plenty more i'm sure (i only searched for items a barbarian would want)

Arreats Face, Highlords AND Goreriders. Yum. I assume Arreats isnt a an Elite helm? Always thought it was, and that it could only be found in Hell, considering a perfect one is worth quiet a bit.

Don't MF in NM if you have hell capable character. The difference in drop chances is really small, but you lose the the possibility of elite stuff.

For example full game, no party, 500MF:
Titans:
NM Meph 1:560, Hell Meph 1:699

Arreat's Face (qlvl close to max. TC NM Meph can drop or in max TC I am not sure now):
NM Meph: 1:7863, Hell Meph 1:1516

Goreriders (again rare from NM Meph)
NM Meph: 1:4332, Hell Meph 1:809


For rings and amulets, according the odds, you can have better chance for SoJ, but the chance is really only smaller because you can't get higher rings like Ravenfrost, BK ring, Carrion Wind etc. btw, Highlords can't drop from NM Meph...

nightmare diablo:

sorry, disregard the things about nightmare diablo in my last post, they were calculated for diablo clone, if he ever appeared in nightmare... (he only drops the annihilus charm, so these calculations are even more pointless)

i guess hell mephisto will be better, when you reach him and nightmare baal will have to do until then...

I have found a few things at NM baal includiing war travs, a gheed's charm, and a few skillers. It is much easier than hell mfing but the drops are somewhat limited.
