I am building a Fireclaws bear, the damage is great but one of the problems i have is no life leach. Even with Draculs you kill things in one or two blows so there is little chance of Life Tap kicking in.
I was wondering if anyone has tried a Griswolds Caduceus (40IAS Inate) with a Shael and 3 15 IAS jewels?
This should give 5fpa, vs 4fpa for 110IAS Phase Blade, but with a much bigger physical damage component, and hence some life leach too. Plus you could go 40ED / 15 IAS Jewels to add even more physical?
Just wanted to get some feedback before trading for expensive jewels...
thanx

pvm or pvp ?
my suggestion, which you may find odd is to just not build a char around life tap...
FC Druid's dont really need it. In Pvp its lame as hell and pvm is pointless as shockwave > lifetap in my opinion.

But with low physical damage and lots of life how do you keep the red bulb refilled? Hunger for bears?

health potions ? with shockwave you never have to worry about being hit.

I've been using Carion Vine to top up life, which is helping allot.
I just got the Griswalds Caduceus, it wasn't cheap as its very rare, and put 3 15 IAS 40Max Damage Jewels in and Shael, for 400+% ED and 105IAS. Seems pretty fast!

15ias/40max ? damn what a waste...
Doesn't exist heh, think he means 15/40ed.
Yeah man, I used my 196 damage Caddy primary for my Fireclaw, it works awesome in PvP & PvM. I also used Fortitude, highlords, etc which was more damage-geared based... I know, but adds a huge amount of deadly strike and %ED. You also don't have to worry about FI's or just about anything which is sweet!
I had Draculs stashed for PvM, they work amazing, prolly best gloves for PvM IMO, you'll be landing hits over and over and Lifetap will triffer constantly, you almost cant die. The OW stops monster heal.. and, well... I HAVE had to OW rare PI/FI minions to death before, and I'm not afraid to do it lol. As long as you have a Jalal 'shael' your pretty much set for FHR... don't really need a whole lot in PvM, considering also that more of the time (75%+) you'll block or cause their attacks to miss through def.. 86% FHR isn't really necessary.
Of course, PvP is a totally different animal. Then like Jayson said its all about hitting the right breakpoints and speed points, and lifetap doesn't play much a roll when battles lasta few hits at most :scratchchin:

How much damage does that caddy do when maul is fully charged on a fc bear without fort and DS? Is the difference noticeable in pvp without maul charged and just using fireclaws alone?
Don't know.. didn't test without. Trying to remember, I believe it was something like 1.5-2k maul, 1.8-2.5k fully charged at 5fpa.
Trying to find any screenies I had...
Here's my Bear with Tombreaver:
