please enlighten me on this issue: an item socketed with a runeword qualifies as unique item (i mean... can i upgrade it using the cube formula that alows an exceptional unique to become elite with the same properties)?

Nope, a runeword is not an unique, even though the colour is the same (gold). There is no way to upgrade the base item of runewords.

how about to add a fixed number of sockets to an item using the cube transmuting formula? thinking of adding 4 sox to a white grand matron bow by using the formula several times.

There is no recipe for a fixed number of sockets on nonmagical items, only one for a random number and you just have one try, as it only works on unsocketed items.

Larzuk will always add the maximum number.
