View Full Version : How do you know what yellows are worth keeping ?

First i wanna say thanks again for all the help im gettiong here. Im starting to like this forum more than the game:thumbup:

But as the title says.. when i gamble circlets, im often uncertain about keeping the circlet or throwing it away..
The same goes for rare gloves.

Is there maby a list over what mods that combine for good rare items?

To know what combines good, you need to know what each character class and build is after. What may be good for one, may be useless for the other.

For instance, 2 skills and 30 frw on a rare circlet is nice for an amazon, but not so much for a (hammer)paladin. Skills, faster cast rate, strength, dex, life, resists, sockets are always nice to have on circlets.

On gloves, you are usually looking for 20%ias, strength, dex, resists and most of the times skills for amazon or assassin, though they don't need all of these to be quite useful :)

Well, the best way to learn is to play the game, and build many characters, and in the process, you'll learn what stats they need, what are standard item builds for those characters - and then when you struggle to meet a requirement for that build, or begin to ponder ways of maximizing damage/survival, you'll understand what mods are important. Also, participating in the trading scene helps a lot.

But for now, I understand you might be scared of throwing some important away, so here's a newbie friendly list:

Note:
Lightning Resistance > Fire Resistance > Cold Resistance > Poison Resistance for PvM.

STR/DEX > Resistance is due to PvP (aka the heavy payers).

STR is much more important than DEX.

Circlets (Need at least 3+ mods, or just 2 if they are skill/FCR):
+2 Tab/Class Skills (+1 should only be considered if other mods are absolutely godly)
FCR
FHR
FRW
2 Open Sockets
30+ Single Resistance
10+ All Resistance
10+ Strength
10+ Dexterity
10+ Life
10+ Mana
% AR per Lvl
Teleport Charges

Ideal circlet:
2 Class Skill
2 Open Sockets
30 Strength
20 All Resistance/30 %ED/%AR per Lvl
60 Life
20 FCR/30 FRW

Amulets:
Pretty much the same as circlets.

Ideal Amulet:
2 Class Skill
20 All Resistance
Additional 40 Single Resistance/90 Mana
30 STR
60 Life
10 FCR/9% Mana Leech/9% Life Leech

Rings:
Same as amulets.

Ideal Ring:
11 All Resistance
Additional 40 Single Resistance
Another additional Single Resistance/120 AR/90 Mana
40 Life
20 STR
10 FCR/Life Leech/Mana Leech/Damage

Beginning to see a pattern?

Gloves:
Same as above, but now, you want:
+2 Amazon/Assassin Tab
20 IAS
Other favourable mods.

Ideal gloves:
+2 Tab Skill/30 Single Resistance
30 Additional Single Resistance
30 Another additional Single Resistance
20 IAS
15 STR
Life Leech/Mana Leech/20 DEX

Boots:
Same as above, but now, you want:
30% FRW

Ideal Boots:
40 Single Resistance
40 Additional Single Resistance
40 Another additional Single Resistance
30% FRW
10% FHR
9 DEX

Weapons:
250%+ Enhanced Damage
Fool's
IAS

OR

330%+ Enhanced Damage
IAS

Belts: Should be redundant by now.

Armors and Shields:
USELESS --> Sell, they're great for gold for gambling.

I hope at this point you have a taste what you need to find.

I left out:
Class-Specific rares: sorry, you'll have to play builds to learn these.
Modifiers like Goldfind, Magicfind: yes, people do go after these - keep an eye out for these.
