View Full Version : poll: ban unfair pks from gauss?
Today i noticed that a gauss channel member, a nice guy in the channel by the way, is an active 'legit' pk. No problem with that per se, but obviously he uses a lvl 90 char to kill low level players.
I have to say that i find this bad and unfair. Bad because it drives newcomers away from d2. Unfair because no one will duel against a lvl90 char with a low level char.
So i propose to change the gauss channel rules to this:
Gauss channel rules: Behave so that the channel is a fun and safe place for all. Don't grab, don't cheat, don't pk unfairly.
I'd say talk to the guy first, if he continues, ban him.
I think this kind of pking should be left in the public games and not in gauss. I'd say dont ban him from the channel but it should not be happening in op gauss games. I dont know if it has or not. Voted yes to the rule change

I did talk to him, but will only ban him if the new rules get a clear vote and he continues.

Ah, he did not pk in a gauss game. I just noticed it from the messages, and asked him directly what he's up to. And when i found out that it's of the kind lvl90 vs lvl25 i thought, no man that can't be it.

I'd say whatever you want to do in this game is fine as long as it doesn't envolve any hacks or exploits or violating your EULA. If the guy in question gets a kick out of killing people then that's fair enough. As long as he doesn't do it in the name of gauss then i dont care. It's PKers and the like we have to thank really. Without them we wouldnt have need for a channel to make safe friendly games, and I would never have met a lot of the fine upstanding community members i have met in Gauss.

It's a bit lame, using a high level to pk lower levels. But if he's doing it legitly (i.e. clicking the hostile button, and then going out to hunt them down) then people could see him coming and go to town of they wanted... There is plenty of time, I mean plenty of time.
If someone is foolish enough to stay and do battle then isn't it just as much their fault?

Agreed 100%
I share the same view.
It's legit gameplay and in my opinion gauss should not enforce gameplay ethics outside the gauss context.
Aye, I consider it lame but like I said no, I don't think gauss should ban for it.

I respect that position, but you should then vote against the rule change. At the moment, there are 8 votes in favour, 0 against it.

I don't know how exactly the pk'ing is done, but i suspect that the lameness involves waiting at the town entrance and killing lowlevels who got out to get an enchant. Perhaps they don't have a real chance to s&e.
I joined gauss so I didn't have to waste my limited playtime leaving a game and making a new one because some guy is trying to pk me, legit or not. I don't mind if people are doing it legit but gauss isn't the right place for it imho. I voted to change the rules so that said person doesn't go round re-creating a public bnet atmosphere in gauss.
The vote is clear: all votes are in favour of the new channel rules, no votes against it.
I will update the rules in the first thread topic and in the .rules command.
Note: If any of you gauss members want to change the channel or its rule, feel free to call for a poll. Whatever the outcome is, i will accept it.
I did not vote yet (early morning :p) and had only stated my opinion on the matter, otherwise my vote would have reflected that opinion.
I'm not the hypocritical type. Or at least I don't think of myself that way, who knows what other people have to say about me :D
Anyway, since the rule does not affect me in the least bit I'm sure as hell not gonna try and have a majority vote changed.
