Was in CS today, some guy was trying to tell me that high damage = high chance that items are more "magical". Also, that critical hits means more "magical items". And that sorcs can get critical hits.

I was losing faith is his sanity, but then he said by critical hits he meant hits at the top of the damage range, ie 10k hammers when your range is 8-10k.

Does this have ANYTHING to do with drops?

No, it doesn't.

No, it doesn't.

Any proofs for that?

I always thought that noone knows how the drop chance is calculated, because everything is done server-side

Not everything is done server side. You forget about single player.

Did anyone ever confirm that the single player droprate mechanism has anything to do with the multiplayer one? To be honest - I have no idea. I know that someone had to "re-discover" it, to make private bnet servers, so we should know if it is handles by the client, or by the server

I heard this same spiel from my friend a few weeks after Classic's release. Total crap is right.

I guess so, since how would he even know when he'd done a "critical" hit with any character :/

I might send him to this thread if he comes out with it again in a game I'm in :)

Even single player uses the client/server model, it's just that everything is on your computer.

I think the question is not whether single player and TCP multiplayer drop mechanics are different, but whether battle.net or non-battle.net drop mechanics are different, which I highly doubt.
