View Full Version : ISO Equipment/Stat Planner (not skill planner)
I have been looking around for a character/equipment planner quite a bit, but all i find are skillplanners.
What i have in mind is a tool where i can play what-if with my equipment selection. Given the selected equipment (changing variable stats according to the available equipment) and hard points in str/dex/vit/ene the tool should:
- display the summed up values of str/dex/vit/ene fhr/fcr/fbr/cb/ and whatnot.
- optional: calculate life/mana/chance to block/ cast, hit recovery, block - frames etc
I am sure i can do this with excel, but has really nobody ever done this?
One thing that would be needed for such a tool is an item database in table form. Anybody know where i can find this?
Might want to edit that link out.

My mate wrote a block/ cast / fhr / other things calculator that you can use if you want. Just gimme a yell and i can send it to you. As for item databases, ATMA and Kijyas forum trader both have fairly comprehensive item databases. Maybe ask Kijya about where he got his info.
Whenever I've got too much time to burn thinking about a character, I usually just fire up an excel spreadsheet and go from there.
I, too, had a similar idea. It's just that with tons of variable stats and rune and jewel socket choices it ended up seeming to me that it would be easier to just enter everything.
Might want to edit that link out.
Thanks for the tip, you are right of course. I just looked at the nice skill planner, and did not check the other services of the site.

I think most folks just fire up Single Player and an editor to test out things this complex. You can swap items in and out, adjust skills etc. And instead of just looking at the numbers, you can actually take him/her for a test run.
I usually just use a piece of paper and a pencil myself.
Anyway, in answer to your question, I've been around a long time and have not seen such a program (on any site). I think it's safe to say it doesn't exist.

Hm, i will give this a try. Using the real thing instead of a simulation makes good sense. I will search through the forum for a good character editor.
With annis and torches stat planning became much more important for me. Normally, i would distribute just the points that were absolutely needed to equip mid-level gear. But this led me to a char with way too much stength after equipping anni/torch/storm. So i decided to rebuild and get it right this time.
Thanks!
Gah. The stat-geeks have taken Floyd!
How can a character ever be too strong?
I guess I'll tell the guys at work, "Sorry, I really only work out just enough to carry this light stuff."
Perfect stat worrying in Hardcore... Something has gone terribly wrong. Where's Stinger?! We Need Him Back!
/rant :p
Well the problem was: i built an ORB/CL to lvl 83, and was not happy with her at all. Killing speed was ok, but with anni and torch (finally sold a lot of my dusty sc stuff...) i ended up with way over 200 str.
Normally, i would not care much about some 'wasted' stat points but that sorc felt like a glass cannon. No energy shield of course, because of dual element. But i missed those 50 or so stat points that i could have put into vit. So, instead of leveling a doomed char in the late 80's where leveling gets really slow, i decided to try again and build a pure light sorc partly after reading HPs story of his lost char. In fact, the char's name is dyospark.
I'm not sure if the problem is really those wasted stat points, or if it is just the dual element build that makes me feel unsafe without an energy shield. Also, the fact that my trusty ORB/TK sorc is a really great tanker may make every build without energy shield feel unsafe.
Anyway, might light sorc is now lvl71 and is already mowing down everything in sight, though i have to be careful because not all gear is in place, and a lot of stat points are safed...
Interesting that you talk of stinger, where is he? I always liked to listen to him, he's not stupid! STTTIIIINNNNNGGGGEEEER!?
I miss Stinger too. He and I used to butt heads a bit, still I really appreciated his insight and passion for the game.
Speaking of appreciation, I have come to love my collection of low level strength LCs. Put them on early, strip them out later.

Good idea, will do that on the next build. I am using a SS with -15 req jewel in it for the time being and str/vit/dex have worked out quite well. At the moment i am a bit worried about the merc's CV infinity, he's doing 4.8k damage with it and i don't even want to think about teleporting through any doll area. I will have to make an infinity with less damage.
