View Full Version : Hi all
Hey
Just started out with hardcore, well first serious try, I once had a lvl 4 that died while i was afk
I have a question for ya'll i hope some of you can answer. I chose to start with a barb, maybe not the most clever choice but got tired of playing as a fishymancer :coffee:
My question is about skill progression. i have planned i will become a WW barb, but i can't really pump points into any synergies, so im running around saving my points, but i have to deal with Duriel in some way?!....
and what about weap mastery?...When and how do i chose what weapon to go with since im starting at zero and have no items at all. Hope some of you can help me

This doesn't really answer your question, but..
Give me a whisper on *JackCarael or *JackCarael_HC (assuming your on the Europe Realm)
I'll get you past Duriel =)
On another note, a Barbarian might indeed not be the best first choice - personally, I always pick a character that can generate wealth.
When I have some wealth, I have a broader pick - the gear I'll be using no longer depends on what I find, but on what I can trade. This gives you much more options.
I can't help you with your Barbarian specifically, because it's the only character I never played, but I hope this helped anyway..
Cheers!

Welcome to HC .. And as you guess a barbarian is probably not the best character to start off with no items at your disposal .. Depending on your wishes for him of course , if its just to play and have fun then knock yourself out .. Barbarians are sturdy and can make it through Nm mode untwinked but to be really effective in Hell you will need to have some decent items and plan a build and stick to it ..
If you are planning on eventually making an Uber runner , mfer , rusher , or other type of characters your probably not going to get far with a barbarian as a wealth generator .. Unless you make some kind of wealth generating character HC can be a very demoralizing and tedious task .. Searching the "Barbarian Build Sticky" in their forums is a good way to start off to get an idea of what you'll need ..
Barbarians can be magic find characters but its usually after you make a devoted Mf character to get him some items .. Good luck ...

Thanks for the advice and help guys.
I think i will start a trapsin to make me some items for my beloved barb. I didnt really have a "plan" for him, other than make him WW, just to have fun with, so the coming days will be used to make a trapsin to make some items.
And thanks for the kind offer Jack, maybe i'll send you a whisper sometime

I don't believe in any good or bad starting character, you should play what you will enjoy the most. A couple ladder seasons ago my first character was a no dex mace barb. Completed hell with some friends(No rush because new ladder) i turned him into an IK set barb a lil ways into the season and he was my main MF'er. I primarily ran Hell Meph and found multiples of almost everything meph can drop. He never died and didn't retire until the next ladder season.
The season after that i started a throw barb to clime the ladder. He eventually died in hell because of my own neglect will killing nihandalik but i found enough to start a very well geared javazon from him including eth Titans.
So play whatever class you want and will have the most fun with, just remember to read up on the guides stickied nn these forums and play careful/smart.
Good Luck with whatever you choose to start!
