I am trying to get a dual leech (ML and LL) ring using the Blood Caster Ring recipe. Is this the best thing to do? I know I should get at least 1-3 LL but just wondering what are the things I need to worry about when crafting rings? Do any rings work or should I look for specific ones?

I believe it's best to get rings with a minimum ilvl of 71 - this to ensure you get 4 affixes. Therefore, I gamble with a lvl 79 character and craft with 69 character.

However, in an other tread, krischan advise to craft and gamble with a clvl 73 character. Should work too, and if you only craft rings, that is probably the best idea. If you on the other hand craft more things, it might be interesting to keep all runes/gems/jewel in a separate character and then you can use different character with different lvl, like I do.

It's L73 when gambling+crafting with the same character. That will produce L71+ rings which will always have 4 random affixes.

Shouldn't it be 74?

You are right, it's L74. I made the calculation for L70+

Probably a stupid question, but does the Character has to be lvl 74 for optimal ringcrafting? Does it matter if the char's level is 74+?

It's actually better to go higher if you want mana leech. ilvl 86 opens up of the vampire (6% ml). The only other affixes that come available at higher level are 7-8% ll (of the Lamprey, ilvl 77) and +15-20 str (of the Titan, ilvl 74). Unless you have specific reasons to exclude those, you probably want to aim for ilvl 86 or higher anyway.

The 6% ML affix has a level req of 74 on its own and crafted items get (10+3*X) on top of that (X being the number of random affixes), so it will lead to a level req of 96. It's probably better to have the next lower mana leech affix (4-5%).

In order to get the proper rings, should I gamble and all magic rings should I use those for crafting?

I don't think there are interesting magic rings, is that what you are wondering.

I just wanna make sure that the rings are the proper ilvl? I obviously have the proper clvl with being 90.

The proper ilvl is as close to 71 without going under it. As mentioned, you need to craft and gamble with a clvl 74 character to meet these conditions.

with you clvl 90 character, you risk opening some affixes that aren't interesting, like that very high mana leech affix that raises rlvl to 96.

Luckily my friend quit and he has a guy that is level 74. How do I know if ilvl is 71? Should I just gamble with the 74 guy and whatever magic rings that are trash, craft with those?

you can't know the ilvl of the item you are about to craft. all you know is that if you gamble and craft with a character of level 74, you will get items that are level 71 or higher, and in such a way that it won't be more then 81, meaning that are have the smallest range equal or greater then 71 that can be obtained in the gamble through gambling.

So yes, craft and gamble with the same Clvl 74 character.
