My brother and I play Diablo 2 together at nights and he has a well equipped Summon Necro and I have a Frenzy Barb. We made these characters in order to do uber tristam. We tried it for the first time last night and we started off very well killing Baal and Diablo fairly easy. I tanked them with the Barb and he killed the jerks that were hurting me!

No came time to kill Mephisto. He hit me with conviction and I went down faster than....insert any joke you can think of. Even though I died, I see tons of people post on here about summon necros that I don't see why we can't do it too.

He raises his skellies and mages and gets the Udars from River of Flame, but they all seem to die fast. I read all the time how people kill them, and no one mentions the TON of monsters that pop up from the ground. Its as if we are the only people that face them! What strategy should we be using!

Huh, monsters from the ground? Never happened when I played UT.

Well joke aside. It is a big big advantage that you're a frenzy barb, that is if you have a high level howl. Here is how I would do it.

First you need the following:
Both of you have maxed resist after conviction, it may not be necessary each time, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
The necromancer must have teleport. Urdars are used for their crushing blow.
I think that if the necromancer have 1 point invested in summon resist, maxed skeleton mastery, and a lot of +skills a couple of urdars 8-12, should be sufficient.

I will assume that you only fight mephisto now, against him, let the necromancer first cast life tap on mephisto (while he is in his minion stack so he won't get hit by ranged attacks), you will in the mean time be casting howl so any minion that comes up flees, you may have to cast it a couple of times, since terror does not have the wanted effect every time.

Let the necromancer teleport on top of mephisto (who is life taped) while you run / teleport to him (stay in the stack of minions), the necromancers runs away a bit and cast a high level dim vision (really not needed) on top of him self so the whole sceen are covered, meanwhile you and the urdars are whacking at mephisto. Remember that the necromancer must also rephlenish the life tap quite often to be sure that you are safe.

What you as a barbarian must have are, as already mentioned resist maxed after conviction, but also open wounds, crushing blow, and enough damage for life tap to be efficient (this is also sufficient to take down the last hit points of mephisto). If new creatures appear just howl them, if mephisto singles you out, and also new minions appear, go a little back, howl, run up and heal on mephisto, and smack him down, until he let new minions appear, and you just do the same again.

Letting the necromancer alter between Dim Vision and life tap on top of mephisto will also put most minions out of function and keep life tap open.

I am surprised the urdards fell fast, but however look on youtube and see one of the necromancer videos. In every video (that is not on single player) the necromancer have to replenish his stacks of urdars. Not because they fall to the übers, but because their timer expires, remember revive last for 3 minutes, and then they fall, since they have not been summoned at the same time, it will look like the fall like flies.

So both of your chars should be very well able to defeat tristram solely, and together it should not pose a problem at all. Oh and angelic set is a good idea to use as a barb since übers are level 110.

Monsters from the ground are Megademons/balrogs - they apear in small volcanos.

Anyway you should be able to kill all ubers. You had no luck or you have crappy stuff. UT always can surprise you but good melee character with necro assistance are good team. Read another threads - you can find them on first pages even without "search" button.

From my experience meph wont summon **** when he's engaged, so the trick is to teleport away, lure him to come to you, and as soon as you see him coming teleport right on him.. he might summon 3-4 dudes.. easy to kill / cast terror on.. or simply ignore.
