Not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have a question with regards to merc weapon. He is currently using a Hone Sundan (I haven't socketed it with anything yet) for the CB and I am looking for feedback on the plausibility fo upping the hone sundan to a ghost spear. Assuming he can make the str and dex requirements, does this sound like a good idea to anyone? I'm looking at socketing with either life steal or ias. Any input on the socketing or the upping would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there.:)

Amn shael shael is usual.

In single player/ladder play upgrading to a ghost spear requires a lum/pul/Pemerald and is probably not necessary for a necro with full summons but maybe worth it on an ethereal weapon if an obediance polearm isnt an option which needs Fal/Ko mid runes.

LastZodiac and I were looking at my ethereal up'd hone sundan a few weeks ago and we came up with the theoretically best baal-killer mercinary.

Act2 holy freeze (100% crushing blow and fast/can't be frozen by baal)

Andariel's Visage socketed with Cham rune.
Treachery Armor
Eth up'd hone 3x Ber runes.

It would lay some very fast crushing blows down and be highly resistant once the fade kicked in, and could not be frozen.

My mercinary for my trang novamancer is much cheaper but good:

Also Holy Freeze act2 (75% crushing blow, open wounds, huge resists, huge damage)

Ethereal Cryptic Axe Obedience
Guillame's Face
Ethereal Duress

Since he doesn't leech life I have to lifetap once in a while for him, but it is a rare occasion.

I think Kelpie Snare and Blackhorn's Face is supposed to be the best gear for a merc against Baal. The slow keeps him from doing much of anything.

That's pretty much true, except for necromancers, who have clay+decrepify+cold. The slow items + clay don't stack, so it's better to load a necro's merc with crushing blow to make much shorter work.

CB is a great boss killer. My merc has a crap help, courpsemourn (not the greatest, but he gets by) and a hone sundan. Hopefully, i can get a guillame face and put a couple runes in the sundan for ias and life leech. He does great except for IM so the chaos sanctuary gets expensive. Other than that, he can basically walk through with the rest of my skellies. He has full resists with his gear so thats not a problem now. May change if i swap gear, but im not too worried.
