Yeah.. This maybe a noob question..

But

I have a widowmaker on my assa.. i have 8x 377 psn dmg over 11 secs in my inv..

It lists 5.5k poison dmg.. then when i cast venom wich is maxed.. it drops to 3.3k

is this a bug? or do the charms and venom not work together.. a bug like that?
Or is it simply becuz venom is every 0.4 secs and the charms are every 11 secs..?

I hope someone can clarify this for me..

Never use another source of poison dmg with venom since it shortens the poison length to the same length as venom's poison duration. So your poison charm will end up doing ~34 dmg over .4 seconds which just plain sucks.

The character screen only displays correct poison damage for multiple items if all poison lengths are equal, as they are when using 8 Small Charms with identical lengths or when Venom has been cast. Poison damage consists of a rate (poison damage per second) and a length over which this rate is applied e.g. a rate of 10 poison damage per second for a length of 10 seconds results in 100 (10 x 10) poison damage over 10 seconds. When multiple poison damage items are equipped, their rates are added and their lengths averaged.

8 Pestilent Small Charms of Pestilence (377 Poison Damage Over 11 Seconds each) apply 3,016 poison damage over 11 seconds, at an approximate rate of 274 poison damage per second. However, 7 such charms and a Septic Small Charm (15 Poison Damage Over 3 Seconds) would add 2,654 poison damage to the character screen, but they'd actually apply just 2,450 poison damage over 10 seconds.

Casting level 20 Venom (425-445 poison damage over 0.4 second, at an approximate rate of 1,062-1,112 per second) combines Venom's rate with those of the charms, but only applies that rate for Venom's length (0.4 second). This combined rate is approximately 1,336-1,386 per second, but since it's only applied for 0.4 second the result is just 534-554 poison damage over 0.4 second.

Thus much less poison damage is applied per attack (534-554 vs 3,016), but if you attack at least once every 0.4 second (10 frames) and reapply the poison damage you'll apply more per second compared to Venom alone (1,336-1,386 vs 1,062-1,112) and much more compared to items alone (1,336-1,386 vs 274).
