if I had to take a bet I'd say that your internal network uses DHCP and your computer has recently been issued a new address. As such the port forwarding rules are now broken, because they point to the old address.

survivorx, when someone decides to host an MP game, they'll say so in this thread and will post an IP address for example : 198.XXX.XX (where x's are numbers ofcrse) You can join TCP/IP game by clicking on "other Multiplayer" on the main diablo screen and then clicking TCP/IP then type in the IP address.

@survivorx: As an addendum to the information aduckduckgoose provided, there are also games hosted on Hamachi, a program which generates a private virtual LAN with an IP beginning 5.xxx.xxx.xxx which can be joined in the same way as described above. If you're unfamiliar with Hamachi, there's a link to a small FAQ about it in my sig. However to play with people on a private network you will need a network name and password, and some like-minded souls.

@Ice. They are NOT the same. They are totally different mods here as explained in the Accepted Gameplay Rules which you should fully understand before any MP or trade.

What Corr is saying is that if you join that game, that character and anything found with it, is considered CRM not RRM and that severely limits your MP/trade opportunities.

@ Corr - Perhaps the RWM/RRM thread is not the best place to look for CRM MPing? Feel free to start a new thread if you wish.
