amazing build idea

max iron skin, max, concentrate, and max shout, put all stats into dex... high defense armour... plus shield with maxed block rate... for an unbelievable high defense total. This would be sacrificing life, but my idea is that you defense would be so high that you have no need for life, because no monsters can hit you. Will this work?

It probably won't work, because:
-You won't have good resists
-Most elemental attacks ignore defense
-Some melee attacks ignore defense
-Low damage and health

Best defense for pvm barb is high life, good resist, and a shield. Armor defense is overated generally. Too many things don't care about your armors defense, and I doubt dex adds significant numbers to your build.

At least if you went all str like a titan build, your best defense would be a good offense .

I see... I could always max natural resistance too, but than that still doesn't solve the problem really.

Look into PDR. Gladiator's Bane, Gerke's Sanctuary, etc. Those go a long way in the creation of nearly-immortal characters.

With shield, gear and charms, your resist should be good with 1 pt in natural resist alone usually.

Also, when you say "problem" are you talking about getting hit?
