Hi!
I've not been making barbs (except WhirlWind barbs) for a long time and now I'm planning to make one again. Seeing that this subforum hasn't been moderated for a long while, I'll just ask some advice in this topic:
I want my future barb to be able to:
- be a great BO-caster (already got 10 Warcry skillers)
- be able to solo hell (Frenzy barb, PDR build?)
- be able to do goldfind runs (MF is not important, I already use a sorc for that).
Skillpoints
I'm wondering where to put my skillspoints in. Maxing BO is logical, where else? Shout? Is 1 point in 'find item' good enough? I read that a skill level of 12 is good enough. Seeing I have 10 warcry skillers, an anni, a torch, and 2 +3 bo weapons that would boost 'find item' to level 20, is just 1 point in the skill itself enough?
Items
What items should I use? Mind, I'm not very wealthy and can't get stuff like Enigma's or eBotD.
At the moment I already have some items in my stash that might come in quite usefull:
- for possible melee build? Death BA, Duress AP, Dungo's, Raven's, Arreats, Gores, Drac's, Highlords, Stormshield, Azurewrath, Guillhaumes, Wartrav's, Treks, Upped Shaft, Baranar's;
- for possible PDR build?: Nature's Peace, Gladiator's Bane, Gerke's;
- for possible Goldfinder build?: Gheeds, Wealth, Chance Guards, dual Dwarfs, CoT, Goldwrap, GF ammu, few lems (still have to socket my CoT);
Do you guys have some tips for me? Or maybe some nice builds?

Hey, I'm asking the same question a few threads down! I can't afford the expensive items either, and I really don't know much of anything about any of the barb builds. Can't decide if I want to make a frenzy, concentrate, or beserk barb. Let's hope someone gives some advice :)

hmm... to be honest, I don't really like leap attack barbs. And besides that, I want to use 2 weapons at once, or 1 weapon and a shield.

Ok, Ive decided to make a hybrid FrenzyBarb. It's not going to be perfect, but I want to make a build that's fun to play.
skillpoints lvl85 barb
Combatskills
Bash: 1pt. (prereq.)
Double Swing: 10pt. (synergy)
Leap: 1pt. (most people think this is useless, but I like a skill that can leap me out of trouble)
Double Throw: 1pt. (prereq.)
Frenzy: 20pt.
Masteries
Axe Mastery: 1 pt.
Increase Stamina: 1pt. (prereq.)
Increase Speed: 1pt. (yes, I know pure Frenzybarbs don't need this, but I'm not wealthy enough to get an Enigma... And I just like it... ;) )
Iron Skin: 1pt.
Natural Resistances 1pt.
Warcries
Howl: 1pt. (prereq.)
Find Potion: 1pt. (prereq.)
Find Item: 1pt.
Shout: 5pt. (skillspoints gained above lvl85 go into this)
Battle Command: 1pt.
Battle Orders: 20pt.
Taunt: 10pt. (synergy)
Stats
Strength: enough for equipment
Dexterity: nothing
Vitality: the rest
Energy: nothing
Items
Frenzy build for gameplay
Helm: Arreats or Guilhaumes. What's best?
Armor: Duress (not wealthy enough to get a Forti, Enigma, etc.)
Amulet: Highlords / Angelic amulet, depends on IAS&AR
Ring1: Ravenfrost
Ring2: Ravenfrost / Angelic ring, depends on AR
Belt: Verdungo's
Boots: Gores
Gloves: Drac's
Weapon1: Death BA (not wealthy enough for better runeword weapon)
Weapon2: dunno yet... maybe Oath BA or Crescent Moon BA?
Switch: 2x +3 warcry weapons
Inventory: Anni, Torch, 9x warcry skillers
Frenzy build for goldfind
Helm: CoT with Lem
Armor: Wealth AP
Amulet: Highlords goldfind Amulet: depends on survivalibility
Ring1: Dwarfstar
Ring2: Dwarfstar/ Ravenfrost: depends on survivalibility
Belt: Goldwrap
Boots: Gores (keep this iso rare gfboots for killingspeed)
Gloves: Chanceguards / Drac's: depends on survivalibility
Weapon1: Rune Master with 5xLem
Weapon2: Rune Master with 5xLem
Switch: 2x +3 warcry weapons
Inventory: Anni, Torch, 9x warcry skillers
I guess this might work... Any changes?
Is it good to use a merc while goldfinding? (does his goldfind, stack with my goldfind?)

hmm... to be honest, I don't really like leap attack barbs. And besides that, I want to use 2 weapons at once, or 1 weapon and a shield.
Not Leap Attack, Leap. I couldn't believe it myself. With it, even at level 1, the barb is stomping the yard, stunning the enemy in place while the merc does the killing. Your two 'weapons' are 2 Lem-filled Ali Babas. Don't forget to hork! That way you can wear two Dwarven Stars.
Wait you have 10 war cry gcs? Hmm. Prebuff with the wc gcs, then immediately fill your inventory with gold find charms, 35-40 gc, 21 and over lc and 10 sc. Keep the anni and the torch in your inv. Plop 12-13 pts into Find item and keep about 4 wc gcs for horking. Cot for drop and hork (don't worry we ain't wasting guillaumes) Don't offer more than 1 perf gem for a gc gf charm, nor more than a mid-lvl rune for a lc or sc gf charm. They are usually trading it for money.
Having a merc, preferably Act 2 Offensive, with Killing gear such as Guillaumes and, say Hone Sundan, with Duress, does help slightly. After all, he's doing all the killing in passive mode. His gf stacks with yours on his kills. Add Lem, Amn and Shael on the Hone Sundan. If you realize he kills a little too well, then you may swap Guillaumes with lem-filled CoT.
Granted it is hard to play passively after aggressively leveling up. So, if you want to be hyperaggresive, then use your killing items to kill, the hork with the dual alibabas. Note that there is a 1/4 chance you will crack and melt council members because of Raven Frost, ruining the body to hork.
If you are blessed with Runemasters, then 10 lems on your Runemasters is extravagant, like 12 ists on 2 swords.
If I were you, and am still cheap, I do the 4 eth 1 shael/lem trick with the Runemasters. You hit 95-100 percent of the time vs any monster, even bosses. If richer, Jah, 2 bers an eth and a lem.
Use Arreats to kill/Cot for hork. Leave Guillaumes on merc.
Oh, If you do go hyperaggresive, besides don Arreats, note that the Wealth RW armor adds nothing to the table. Ideal is Chains of Honor, but you have Duress, so it's all good. Put it on yourself. Cheaper, and maybe better for gf, is Treachery, yep the Sin 1.11 RW Armor for you and or merc. Have you and merc take turns wearing Treachery, go to an easier area first before Travincal, like act 1, and both of you get hit, triggering Fade. Have Merc keep on Treachery (he needs the ias) while you don on Duress. Then kill in Travincal (note the 1/4 chance you may melt a counciler.)
So in summary:
20 Frenzy
1 Berzerk
20 BO
5+ Shout
13 Find Item
15 Double Swing
and one in each of the prereqs and 1 point wonders.
But then, with this build you may want to go for mf with 2 isted ali babas (instead of lems). Don't worry, you'll hork plenty of enough gold to note little difference.
