This was an article on one of our local sites. Thought I would share it with the Diii community.

Light and Darkness

From the beginning of creation there had always been these equal yet opposing forces in the universe. Out of a mortal viewpoint we perceive these forces as good and evil. But that is not necessarily the case. To better explain them would be to compare Light to Order and Darkness to Chaos. Without the one the other cannot be in existence. For each respective force's definition is the defiance of the other. For to obtain order do you not need to overcome chaos? And isn't chaos the lack of order?

That is where the Balance came into being; The middle ground where both of these forces exist but do not destroy each other. Because if one of these forces gained the upper hand over the other it would not only mean the destruction of the opposition but also of the victor. For in a world of complete chaos, chaos would start devouring itself leaving nothing in its wake. And in a world of absolute order everything would exist but in complete stagnation.

And this is where the dwellers of Sanctuary find themselves, in the middle of this eternal battle for supremacy which must never be obtained. We assumed that our quest was that of the destruction of evil, but as previously mentioned that cannot be allowed. And at this stage, right before the coming of the third and hopefully most revealing instalment of Diablo we hope to find our true quest and what our true purpose is. But until then, just to keep you wondering, Light and Darkness are indeed not the most powerful albeit opposite sides of the spectrum for "The High Heavens and the Burning Hells create the own notions of their absolute might, the dragon paused, then added, They will someday find that they are far from the ultimate masters of all things created" - Scales of the Serpent, Book II, Sin War.

What do you guys think? Makes me wonder...

Exactly. Direct hit on the nail IMO.
I'll have to dig up a quote I have by spoken word artist (could be William S. Burroughs) which goes along the lines:
Take everything you have in question. Not because it's right, and not because it's wrong, but because it's the only true way of finding the purpose for your values.
Then it was followed by Shakespeares infamous:
"There is nothing good or bad... but thinking makes it so."
All in all, it's good advice to follow and in the Diablo universe, it's the only way to survive. Are you going to take what is given to you by tongue and enforce it upon yourself (or others) without understanding the underlining purpose?

Side note: Doesn't that suck when you're the player and you do what you're being told in a videogame when you know what's coming next! Let's through in alittle of the unexpected and make the player look outside the window and realize what forces are battling and how they're involvement is so significant.

Edit: Eh, very touchy subject, but I have to! Don't listen to your tvs people! *foams from mouth and jumps out the window*
