View Full Version : Noob Druid Question.
I've leved up to like 7 and I was wondering what abilities should I use them for? And what weapon is good with a Druid like a sword, axe, wand, etc. Any other tips would be nice as well, thanks.
It depends - there are several viable Druid builds. A Winddruid (focusing on Hurricane Tornado, Twister, and Cyclone Armor) can do big physical and cold damage, but the tornadoes' paths can be hard to control. Either a werewolf or werebear can be excellent - the werewolf hits much faster (you'll want to use Feral rage and Fury), but a bear can have massive life, and a great crowd control skill in Shockwave. Minions can be helpful - I generally use a Grizzly, as it can soak up a ton of damage and help keep you safe. Both werewolf and werebear need a pretty high damage weapon - I'd definitely go twohanded, as their blocking animation is really slow. An upgraded Ribcracker is fast and does big damage with Crushing Blow, although I generally use a Tomb Reaver. If you pile on crushing blow from off weapon sources (like Guillaume's Face helmet and Goblin Toe boots), you could even go with a phase blade stuffed with Shael runes for a high speed option.
I don't have a lot of experience with the Druid's fire skills - I have one stuck somewhere in the mid-twenties. Seems a bit underpowered to me, and there are plenty of Fire Immunes in Hell difficulty.
Best of luck with your character, and if you have more specific questions, post 'em! You'll probably find some of the guides posted in the Druid forum useful as well. And don't worry, most of the equipment you see in guides is optimal rather than necessary, and you should be able to do fine with what you find in the game. Where do you play? On battle.net, or single player? Ladder or non-Ladder? That can also largely determine your ability to trade for items. If you want to start trading, you'll want to collect all the gems you find, as you can upgrade them with the Horadric Cube you'll get in Act II. Perfect gems can buy you very serviceable gear.

Go look around here for very detailed guides: http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=607049.
If you just need a weapon to truck around with, then it doesn't really matter. Use the highest damage one you can find. However, Clubs and Maces are the druid's weapons. He has an attack speed bonus with mauls and one handed clubs can get +druid skills.
Keep all of the runes you find, and check your runes against this list (http://www.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/runewords-original.shtml) from time to time to see if you can make anything. There are three sets of runewords, but that list has the cheapest ones.
