Sparkling Mail

Since I'm going to buy Hellfire, I decided it would be a nice idea to go through the list of uniques in Diablo and Hellfire. I noticed this one:

Sparkling Mail
Armour class:30
1-10 Lightning hit damage

I remember that magical damage on weapons was great in Diablo, or at least on bows. I believe there was some kind of bug where the added damage would often be greater than it should be. Wouldn't this be a great offensive armor, despite that it lacks basically everything else?

The bug only applied to arrows, and the effective bug was that the arrow would 'hit' the same target 1-8 times over, giving you 1 to 8 times the damage.

Sparking (no l) mail is a pretty mediocre armor because the 1-10 damage is just that: 1-10 damage. It might be useful for a low level char around dlvl 3 through to 6 or 7, but after that its not worth it - the damage you deal back will pale in comparison to the HP damage you take when they hit you. Basically by the time you'd normally find it, there are much better armors around (unless you had really bad luck).
