Im happy for a lot of things I have in my life and Im happy to be sitting here typing this message .. The thought of losing my family and my life is not a very fun thing to contemplate ..

Saturday night I was coming home from my friends house in Dallas , hit something in the road which blew out my left front tire , and I managed to park my truck into a concrete barrier wall on I-35 S .. I was very fortunate that the semi that was behind me was able to swerve and miss my truck or I might not be here today . Im gonna be fine , Im just sore but my truck is a mess and I took it in to be repaired this morning .. Its mostly cosmetic damage but Im just happy I was able to pull it off the road and get out of it . As soon as I recoverd I got out of the truck and walked down the street to call my wife to come get me because I was shaking so bad .

This year has been a bad one for me so far . Thats the second major accident Iv'e had this year . It's also the first 2 times Iv'e ever been in an accident so I'm hoping number 3 doesnt come anytime soon .. So just rememer to be careful and it can happen anytime so dont think just because your a good driver it will never happen to you ...

Sorry to hear that. You should start driving a tank down the I-35 from now on.

Glad it was only an NDE, and not a full out Deeds my friend!

I've been in a few minor accidents myself, only one at highway speeds. They sure do have a way of shaking you up.

You know what'll get your mind off of your impending demise?

Baals!!!

Back in 2000 when I was 20 I hit a tree at 90 km/h. I know how you feel... focus on the things that are important in life, like friends, family, and enjoyment, and try not to bother too much with the rest. Eventually you will die. that one second, in which you might relive your life, should be filled with happyness, not with regrets about the things you never did :)

Ouch, I bet that hurt really bad. I remeber sitting in the last car of a traffic jam not thinking of anything, when out of a sudden I heard a loud noise, was pressed in my safety belt and my car was pushed in the parking car in front of myself although I had my foot on the brake. Well the guy that had hit me, didnīt realise, that we were standing still and never even tried to brake. He was only going 50-60 km/h, but still even one week later I could see, where my safety belt was in the moment of the accident, as my skin was shimmering in all sorts of colors there. Unnecessary to say, that he totaled my car.

It did, I can tell you. We hit the tree dead-on, which turned out to be our saving grace, and I had all of my ribs bruised. Nothing as fun as waking up in the morning, calling for your mom to bring you a sandwich, eating that sandwich so that you can take your painkillers, ly around for another half hour and then slowly and painly turning yourself on your side to so that you can get yourself upright by means of your elbow and your shoulder muscles. It hurts, I can tell you.

Eight years on I still have shoulder pains occasionally, and I am blinded in my left eye. Car-crashes? DONT!

Hopefully you wont have to see the real life 'deeds of valor' screen anytime soon.

I too had a similiar scary experience. I walked to a friends party just down the road from my dorm. I left my car parked here so I would not have to worry about leaving it at his place over night. I had been drinking, and got a little more intoxicated then I had hoped.

It was something like three in the morning and it started to rain. I did not want to crash at my friends house because I am usually uncomfortable about trusting other intoxicated people around me while I am asleep. I accepted a ride from a friend's friend, who himself was quite intoxicated.

He had a small S10, so there were three of us packed into the tiny truck. We pull out of the parking lot next to the party and immediately a police officer flicks on his lights and tries to pull the driver over. He freaked out and lead them on a semi-high speed chase through down town with us still in the truck. He ended up going the wrong way on a one-way street and there was a car in front of us blocking him from going anywhere.

Thankfully he finally stopped the truck and the police officer(s) (Three more had joined in on the fun) took him to jail, and told us to walk home. It was not a near death experience, but it could have turned into one very fast. Anyways, it just taught me a lesson to be more responsible with my drinking. Now I make plans in advance to stay, or I suck it up and walk back to my dorm.
