Can I make a Smiter With little or o good gear

Is it possible to make a Smiter without using a mass of too expensive equipment

If I were to do such a thing, how well would it fair, and do you think it could solo the act bosses as I fought them?


I have no way of getting better equip. except maybey trading my +2 to barb skills poleaxe. Other then that would Found equipment and what a few Pgems can get me be enough to make a somewhat okay smiter?

Yes absolutely.

There are a few things that would be critical to a smiter build IMO.

First you need life tap. Since life leech doesn't work with smite, you gotta have a way to keep yourself alive; a pair of low Dracul's Grasp will do.

Second would be Crushing Blow for fighting boss monsters. Gears like Guillaume's Face and Gore Riders are quite cheap to get and will provide a lot of (50%) CB for your smiter. Weapon I would strongly strongly recommend getting a grief, if you can afford, it makes a huge difference in damage (though this won't show in your character screen, but if you A-B it with other weapon you will immediately notice it). If not, double-shael'd Heaven's Light will give you good speed and okey damage (make sure you get 2os, doesn't need to be +3 skills).

Lastly, you need resistance, a low HoZ (Um~Mal) socketed with diamond will provide plenty and nice skill bonus. But if you are really poor, consider Moser's Blessed Circle(comes with 2os, you can put two pdiamonds) or Storm Shield for some very useful damage reduction. You will be able to achieve max block with both of them easily.

But yes I agree those 2 item are close to essential for a smiter. Without them you will have a hard time surviving/dealing damage.

You can get random draculs for Pul or cheaper (if they're low).
The weapon part is a bit tricky, but there are cheap alternatives to grief like lightsabre, heaven's light, Redeemer...

Get a Life Tap wand from vendors, and try to get that CB as high as possible

First off don't sell your self short these so called "expensive items" really aren't all that hard to get, with the right attitude and a some ingenuity you can make or get what ever you want out of diablo2. knowing your market and your game will get you a long way.

spend some time on the forums brainstorm about unique and interesting classes, read over the rune words, read the skill trees, what items go best with what skills, and youll fine there are a lot of people just like you enjoying the same things.

Luckily He can be easily deleted in favor of the 1pt Smiter
