I'm about to make a grief.

I look at the stats and just wonder why on earth do people insist on using beserker axes for grief rather than phaseblade? The PB is pretty much better in every regard except average damage (~33, vs BA of 47.5).

Considering the main damage comes from +340-400, and this is refected in the % modifiers and on smite, surely the extra 14.5 difference (even with multipliers) does not justify moving down one framerate? The difference between 5fps and 4fps zeal is 5 and 6 attacks per second. That means, per second, without modifiers and assuming perfect grief roll and all hits strike, grief does 2238 dmg vs 2610 PB damage.

are any grief BA fans about?

plus, there's propably no uglier weapon than War Axe/Naga/Berserker Axe in the whole game!

Grief BA is more of a PvP (ww barbs and such) weapon. The major advantage of the BA there is the range.

no justification in choosing a BA over a PB for a PvM toon. You're then burdened with repair costs, slower whacking speed, and your guy holding an ugmo little hatchet for the rest of his life. You'd get more damage/second from the PB simply from the faster attack speed.

re-iteration: BA for PvP for the range of 3 factor.

PB is still good in pub games if there are holy freeze flashes or people with slow target on

PB definately. No worries on ias with a pb and max fanat, you hit the breakpoint for sure. (And no repair cost too!)
