How do smiters typically handle PI monsters?

Looking for cheap, medium, and expensive (gear) options...

Something weird happened to me today..
I was running Ubers for the first time with a friend (a necro), and we got to the Forgotten Sands. Those Swarms there turned out to be PI, but when my friend Amp'd them they lost this immunity.
I didn't know this was possible until now. Perhaps you can find a wand with Amp charges?

Are you sure it wasn't Lower Resist? The reason I ask is because my Bone Spirit/Spear necro from last seasons used to run Countess and use Lower Resist on the Wraiths to break their PI. i.e. http://battle.net/diablo2exp/monsters/act1-Wraith.shtml

Thx for the idea though! Going to try it out!

@Jack Carael: there is no amplify charge wand. except 1 unique (gravel of pain has 3charge, some uniques has ctc amplify)

@PoHo: lower resist do not break PI. it should be either decrepify or amplify

Atma's ammy has CtC amp, but if you are using life tap then it will override it. If you use a merc then toss a Reapers on him for the CtC Decrep.

But like you just said, it would override life tap. There has to be some way to deal with PI's that doesn't override the ever important life tap.

Is azurewrath or lightsabre basically the best bet if using zeal?

The uber necro has amp damage naturally. No necro, especially summon necros, should go without a curse.

Azurewrath rocks , lightsabre , not so much. It's pretty weak.

Also look at gimmershed's , which when thrown is also your IM solution

Rift sceptor is an amazing pi' wep, pair this with a tiamats/dragonscale and watch those pi packs like ghosts just melt.:thumbup:

personally? I would just throw a lacerator on switch. couple smites and you've got your amp. They go down fast after that.

lifetap is a crutch you "shouldn't" need on all the time.
