trading with mules

having searched the stickies in this and the trading forum, i have a question about trading here.

what is the process of trading through a mule? i noticed a lot of posts mention sending the seller mule information. is this just creating a new account with the traded item in the inventory? if so, what's to keep the seller from just taking the item?

also, bin=price, yeah?

Yep, that's exactly what it is.
Nothing's keeping either of the two parties from just taking the item. It's called Trust ^^
Most traders (if arranged via these forums) just drop their stuff in-game anyway, instead of the painstaking Trade Window.
