Just wondering if anyone could give some quick advice on what would probably be the best choice in socketing my light sorc (ES/Max Block build).

This is my original plan: 2Sols in 2os/2Light/20Dex/25Life/40Cold Res Tiara, Sol in Guardian Angel, Sol in Stormshield and Hoto for a physical reduction build.

But due to a few recent acquisitions, I'm thinking about either going:

2x 5/5 facets in the Tiara, 5/5 Chain Lightning Ormus, 5/5 Stormshield and 2x 5/5 in a 2Sorc 3Chain Lightning Orb for a max damage build

or

2x 9str/9dex jewel in the Tiara, CoH, 9/9/-req jewel in my Stormshield and 2 x 9/9 jewel in the 2/3 Orb for a minimal stat investment build.

The original plan for the sorc is as a pure key runner but I was just wondering if anyone with more experience could give me some advice on whether one of my alternate setups would work better if I decide to venture outside of the countess/summoner/nith cycle.

Thanks in advance for any advice since this is only my second light sorc and I just can't seem to make up my mind on the best route for it.

for starters I wouldnt use stormshiel. the 35% DR is useless and the str req is insane (unless you were plannign to use spirit)

If you have a look on actual damage, most hell monsters do around 100 damage. Now if you take into account that a PURE es build maxes ES and gets to around level 35-40, you'll get 90-95% damage reduction. There fore you dont actually need that much PDR. Its MDR you have to worry about.

Nihla's CE is nasty and its unlikely that your ES and mana pool itself can only take 2 or 3e hits. Your health when it comes to CE is less of an issue.

Therefore I recommend level 40 ES gear. I also recommend a very high block shield. MDR ~20, PDR as high as possible (if you wanna play in gloam areas).

+9 memory (switch), +2 tiara, +3 amulet (with MDR/PDR if possible), +2 sojs, + 1 arachnid, + x light GCs (to make up to 40)

Rest of gear if you're light based damage:
Ormus LIGHT (not CL) with 5/5, Gerke's sanc 5/5, crafted safety boots/silkweave, frosties, cresent moon or eschutas 5/5.

Lightening is > Chain for nilha, as it cuts straight through his minions to him.

I hit 40 es with just a memory though so don't need the amulet or sojs, most likely going with double nature's peace so CE isn't a problem and I think I remember any integer PDR not used up spills towards MDR just like MDR spills into PDR?
My original intention was to have enough PDR that I won't be taking basically any damage and with GA have 90% res to take of the elemental side. Would this not be able to absorb enough to make MDR sort of not necessary?
Oh and stormshield strength requirement won't really be a problem for me since my charms/amulet provides most of it.

Only when you receive a mixture of elemental & physical damage from the same attack. CE is a good example, being 50% Fire and 50% Physical.

A PDR/ES max block build is essentially invincible, the only trouble you run into is with manaburn monsters of course since they crash your blue orb down with the manaburn bug. That'd be the best one for general non-keyrunning purposes, as long as you kept the manaburners at bay you'll be ok.

Sol Gerke's is the way to go for the shield, though...high integer PDR, MDR, increased blocking, and a little bit of resists to boot.
