Hail,

I am a lightning sorc who may just be lucky enough to own a griffon helm!
I am not rich, but was lucky enough to farm enough keys (a full mule worth) to get a lower-end griffon. I currently use full tal's set and I am very happy with my current setup. I am trying to figure out how to incorporate the griffon helm into my setup in a way that does not ruin my current max resists.
Then an idea hit me, but I am not sure if it works.

So.. If I let my merc wear the griffon's helm.. would my sorc gain the same benefits as if my sorc wore the griffon's helm herself?

If so, this would be a great solution allowing me to keep my full tal's set on for the MF and resists attributes that work great for me as it is.

Thanks for your help in answering my question.

your merc would get the +1 skills, but would not give you -lit res, only he benefits from that if he has on weapon lightning damage for instance.

Keep the griffons on you. IT is awesome item.

The best it offers is the 25% FCR, IMO.

Update. I wore the griffons for awhile, and absolutely was disgusted with it compared to my previous full tal setup.

with full tal set/magefist/spirit shield/fcr ring/nature peace/and MF boots.. I had great MF, max resists, hit the 105 FCR for fast casting/teleporting.and not to mention a nice glow graphic. Add on a merc with insight and I was doing damn good. 16k max damage.
Now keep the same setup, but swap the tal helm for griffons.. I end up with crappy resists, less max damage, crappy MF.
Then I also tried griffons/tal armor/magefist/arach mesh belt/+3 sorc skills amulet.. and that leaves me with 17k max damage/super crappy resists/and super crappy MF.

Maybe a griffons can help more in pvp.. but for general pvm and MFing esp. I was VERY dissappointed. I even sockected the griffons with a lite facet and my char was overall a lot more fragile, while not having MF worth anything. I was hoping for more, glad I had the experience with it, but at the end of the day, I will happily take the full tal set.

hrm, well i have a griffon's that i love on my light sorc. you have to pair it with better gear (i.e. maras, CoH, etc) than just swapping out tal's helm for it, because most of the juiciness of tal's set comes from the bonuses. that said, if tal's set works for you, an axiom comes to mind...if it ain't broke, why fix it? just trade that griffon's for something else you could put to use (some skillers and more)

Yes I ended up selling the griffons before the above post of mine. Don't regret it. I am now hoping to get an infinity and see how I like that, if not then I will get some skillers.

If only I spent as much time trying to perfect my r/l person!

Try Griffon with items like CoH, Hoto, Arach etc and not with Tal set. The Tal set is designed to be..a set. So taking one item off and replace it with a new thing doesnt make it good.

The good thing about the Griff is the FCR and the -enemyres. Those will not show in the damagescreen, but the -res will do alot more than a few +skills when it comes to killspeed.

Yeah, don't just look at the character screen.

By taking off the helmet you loose no MF (beside a ptopaz in your mask) but you loose 15 res all. by breaking up the set you loose 50 res all. Replace that with a Wizspike. It will give you 75% res all and a socket for more res, MF or a facet - whichever you find most usefull!

Like the previous posts said, you should not judge the dmg boost from what you LCS is telling you.

This would also give you 75% FCR. Coupled with three piece tals you gain another 20% FCR and you're at 95. Even the lowest spirit shield would get you to the 117 FCR bp for lightning/chain lightning. However, if you go max block/don't use spirit you can get a magefists and a FCR ring. Note that the use of Wizspike will solve your res problems and free up slots of gear. If you use spirit you can use Chance Guards and nagels (or rare rings with res+mf+whatever you might need) for more MF and if you go for magefists you can get a Rhyme shield for 25 res and mf. Heck, Magefists + Splendor would free both of your ring slots up for pure MF pumping!

The thing that has held me back from making a full tals sorc is the fact that you need to use both your ring slots (along with spirit and magefists) to hit the 117% FCR bp for L/CL...

EDIT: This is late, I know but still, I want to say that what held me back from making a full Tals LIGHT sorc is what I meant, full tals meteorber are sweet!

Oh, well, Infinity will be a pleasant experience for you aswell

Totally agree with you.

Wizzy+griffons+Vipermagi gives you a respectfull 105FCR for safe teleport, than you have pretty much all the rest of you gear to get resists and MF.

You can use a 4isted Monarch, 2 Nagels, 40MF ammy, GoldWrap, Travs, Chance Guards and still have the 105BP, you can also use 2 FCR rings(for the 117BP) with nice resists and sock griffons, viper and wizzi with res jewels/Um or whatever you want.

The 25 FCR from griffons makes a huge deal for you in the way that it allows you to change your gear significanlty, because you dont need all those FCR itens you were using.

---

Other good option is to get you hands on Arachs, Griffons, Hoto/Wizzy, Pspirit, FCR ring, Vipermagi and reach the 200FCR Break Point, and that is even faster killing.
