Hotkeys

Well, I did a search on hotkeys in the newcomer forum and got, surprisingly, zero results. So, my question is, how do you assign hotkeys to actions? I know how to assign F1, F2, etc. but I'm reading about people using 'q', 'w', 'a', 's', etc. for their actions, and I have no idea how to do that (besides using an external program like autohotkey to remap F1 to q, F2 to w, etc.). Is there a way to assign non-Function keys to actions in D2? Thanks. :)

Edit: Regarding the search results, I'm actually not getting any results for any searches in the newcomer forum, although search seems to work fine in the other forums. Is the search function disabled or broken for the newcomer forum?

Steps would be:

hit esc key

click options

click configure controls

Where it says skill 1 and all the way up to 16 you click on that, then it should be blinking. Then you can assign a different key to it like a-z keys.
Assigning those hotkeys to skills is same as the f#, just hover over a skill and hit the assigned key for skill 1-16
