Fire Sorc vs Uber Izual

At the fear of IM vs the simpler smiter version, would I stand a chance vs Izzy as a sorc?

lvl 92, lvl 35 meteor/fireball 2000 life with BO, all res 75.

Izzy would be possible, since he has 75% fire resistance. Diablo would be pretty much impossible; he has 110% Fire Resistance (= immunity) and unless you have a merc with Infinity you can't break him. You really need a physical-damage build for ubers, preferably with lots of CB.

If you fear IM my suggestion is to go with a Frost Zealot / Smiter hybrid. When you come accross Oblivion Knights (OKs) simply switch your weapon to a wand (the cheapest you can get at any merchant) and rely on your cold damage to take out monsters, and the aura to make everything easy.

The setup I used (softcore):

i see. do oblivion knights respawn in Furnace? I was thinking i could clear them with a sorc, switch to paladin and do izzy...

I haven't done ubers much lately but I can't remember OKs anywhere in uber-land.

OKs aren't in Uber Trist, but they can (and often do) spawn in the Furnace of Pain. If you're lucky and there are none around, you might have a chance with a sorc. Only if your merc is well equipped, though, since you'll need him to tank. Overall, though, the Furnace of Pain is not really a good place for a sorc. Oblivion Knights make short work of your merc, and the Pit Lords there are immune to anything but physical damage.

then what IS a good class to do uber izzy? Bowazon? I am really limited to a meteorb sorcy and a smiter/zeal pally at the moment.

A hammerdin is probably the best class, no immunities, and not melee. If you can't find a hammerdin to help, I'd suggest finding a friend to tag along with and just tele to izzy with your sorc, and go get your smiter.

u cant even do anything to obvilion knight from holy freeze's cold dmg cuz they are immune cold.

yes, this is the better option. uber izual hits really hard so u want to stick with pally with blocks and lifetaping, even with a bo sorc around 2k life u might with just 2-3 hits from him.

smiter is the best uber killer cuz ITD kb stun, dont use attack that needs ar cuz ur chance to hit uber even with 20k only around 80%. u want every hit so u get better chance to lifetap and leech every hit, and along with cb ofc. my smiter doesnt even need to switch to zeal when ubers are at low health and i just smite all the way only take a few seconds.

Ive cleared furnace of pain with a light sorc and infi merc. I prefer it to using my zealot. I tend to teleport in and take out all the OKs with lightning and then quit. Then get my smiter/zealer dude. With zealer alone, and Oks around, I die on average 5 times, even though im very careful.

With infi and a decked out light sorc, you can annilate anything except the pit lords (which are immune to ALL forms of magic and arent breakable). In those cases just go in and wipe out OKs.

I just use my hammerdin. Teleport to the end, wipe out the OKs, and switch to smiter gear for Izzy. Quick, simple, and barring carelessness, never fails.

Mini Ubers/Ubers in general are pretty much pointless without a Smiter.

Hdin can 1 point smite ok just by stash switching gear. There are other non pally alternatives like Procazon, Kicksin and Melee Sorc but Smiter is simpler and cheaper to make an effective uberkiller. The bottomline is that the OP pretty much already has the best tool for the job and should use it.

If you are worried about dying with your Smiter roll a Passion runeword (dol ort eld lem) in a Phase Blade and use Berzerk to kill Oblivion Knights. It doesn't matter if you get IM'ed because Berzerk converts all your physical damage to magical. When you find Izzy just Zeal away.
