The official thread for fantasizing the first week of Diablo III!

Ok, here's my plan:

1) As soon as the release date is announced, I will reserve the following week for Diablo III. Just put my life on hold.

2) I will buy a new computer just before the release.

3) I think about renting a conference room of some kind so I can have a "LAN" party with three of my friends. There would be a pool, sauna and lots of food. No distractions whatsoever, phones would be turned off.

4) I will probably camp outside a game store couple hours before opening so I'm sure to get multiple copies.

5) The grand scheme is to corrupt my wife to join my unholy plot to ensure my Diablo-time after the initial week.

Am I a victim of hype? Totally.

Please share your thoughts so I don't feel like a loser alone :) You can also answer the following questions:

1) What will be your first class/build?
2) What do you expect from the game the most?
3) Will you buy a new computer just for Diablo III?
4) Are you already thinking of your social circle keeping in mind the party limit of four and possible initial party candidates?
5) How long do you think you'll keep playing straight after you've finally gotten the game installed?

It could still be a year off yet you know *eases back*. I will personally wait for the expansion until I touch it and it'll probably be around that time that I'll be getting a new computer that will be good enough to run it. I'd like to dive into it straight away but not all of us want it to come out quickly/soon. So I'll probably be playing on my new Xbox360 (jasper), maybe RE5 (1680x1050) or something to answer your question. Got to have something to look forward to don't we :)

Note the LAN party may be a dream, it's been announced there is no LAN play.

D3 - It's All About Planning

Firstly book a 4 week block of holidays at work. If Blizzard move the release date, move the holiday block. When your boss asks, explain to him that it's Blizzard's fault. Just smile when your boss stares at you with an enigmatic look.

When people ask "where are you going for your holidays?" with a deadpan expression explain that you are going to buy D3, take it home, enter the computer room, install it and start playing and never stop. In short you intend to rot in your own filth. It helps to finish with a slightly maniacal laugh.

Now's the time to install that utility toilet in your computer room, either that or install wireless and the laptop goes when and where you go ...

Next for the campaign plan. You can't do it alone, you need a team spread over the globe that can play a character 24x7, after all you want to be the first to the top of the ladder. As well as that you will require support teams, item finding group and trade groups to help your char get all the sexy gear and to set up 1 hit kills so you can come join full games and rape the XP. It will take some time to assemble a suitable team, do whatever it takes - love, money, bribes, your first born ...

Call your local Italian, Chinese, and Indian takeouts and arrange for suitable range of deliveries at least twice a day. Place online supermarket shopping orders for donuts, softdrink and other necessities.

Organise for periodic wakeup calls just in case you fall asleep at the wheel from fatigue after playing for "48 straight". Screen other calls with a suitable voice mail explaining your absence, you don't need the interruptions from family and friends etc, make up something believable that won't alarm them, for example "customs found drugs taped to your lower intestine" or "a UFO landed in your backyard, picked you up and aliens are now conducting experiments on you".

If your partner isn't a D3 fan, isn't corruptible and won't support you then they've got to go. Send them on vacation, away, anywhere you can bribe them to go. If you can't do that then divorce or break up, get your priorities straight.

Be the first the hack Battlenet2. Reverse engineer the D3 Beta client. Write a Trojan that spoofs the headers of out going client connections, piggybacks the packets to the server, masquerading as legitimate client data. After successful infiltration, open up a TCP/IP socket and start a listener on a randomly available port for some crazy fun.

Get the first copy of D3 in your region. Camping the game store is so blase. Do your homework. Case suitable stores. Scope the transport and order schedules for the games department. Burgle their warehouse, resort to highway robbery of the game delivery van, hell hijack the plane bringing the games into the country. and really make a name for yourself. Buck up, the possibilities are endless.

1) Wizard - Female, not sure of the build yet.
2) Fun.
3) Won't be necessary, but yes I'll have a new computer.
4) Nah.
5) I'm an old man, probably 24 hours would be my limit.

^^ omg, haha.

Um, I'll definitely be taking a vacation for at least a week and a half.
I'll download the game as soon as it's available, then pay money to a friend in US so he can buy the box to get me a valid SN so I can play on B.net. If, of course, there won't be an official digital download option. God knows how long it will take for D3 to get here officially.
While waiting for my SN, I'll be honing my skills in offline, so I won't appear a total noob when I start playing with people :)

EDIT:
1. Female wizard. Ice / Electrocute / time stop. All skillpoints will go to DPS - no survivability unless no more DPS skills available.
2. LOOT, LOOT, LOOT
3. We'll see.
4. Solo or with a friend for my first playthrough.
5. A little bit over 24 hours

Would be great to take some time of work, but my girlfriend would kill me if I took time of work for a videogame when I'm not doing it to be with her :/

1. I will play Witch Doctor but no idea on which build.
2. That Witch Doctor will rock.
3. Yes a new superlaptop!
4. Yep, need playerlimit 5 for it to work!
5. Couple of hours, I get tired fast :P

If this game will be released when I have vacation I can guarantee you that my girlfriend is going to break up with me.

Wish I could take time off to be a loser too XD Maybe I'll catch a cold somehow. Or, any volunteers to feed me rat poison?

Would definitely buy it asap. Hopefully Blizzard will be wonderfully cheap like always and not make us pay 60 bucks for a game.

Here's my plan: Wake up. Skip breakfast. Play D3. Go to school. Run home. Scribble on homework. Play D3. Eat microwave food infront of computer while playing D3. Play D3, and no more sleep

1. Probably witch doctor- summoner, but that might change depending on the next 2 chars. Just no classic knight types.
2. I dunno...
3. My computer probably already pwns enough
4. Don't know any people in person who play any Diablo games :weep: Am hoping that the limit will be changed and made higher though...
5. A long time

I am hoping to buy it on the release date, just probably camp outside a store and wait until they open and then CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!

1- Barbarian (unless the 2 un-announced characters apeal to me more)
2- Game play, combat at a high and enjoyable standard. I expect great variation in characters (although no stat point allocation doesn't help that).
3- Yes will be buying a laptop for D3 and Uni purposes.
4- Not worried, as i may just play single player.
5- It depends really, but most likely at least 3 hours + or even a day....who knows .

My list:
1. Schedule a week off work (and hope it actually releases on the correct date)
2. Call my friend and tell him to buy it (which he will already have it the first day)
3. Install it when I get home
4. Jump right on B.net 2.0
5. Create a Barbarian (decision based on classes currently announced)
6. Try not to fall asleep...

Funny entries! :)

Note the LAN party may be a dream, it's been announced there is no LAN play.

That's why I wrote "LAN", not LAN :) I just meant that we would all be in the same room playing in the same game through battle.net.

1 First I'm going to get a new comp then im going to schedule atleast 2 weeks off work tell them im going on family vacation or some ****.
2 i plan on making lots of sandwhiches and buy water by the gallon to prepare myself for my epic journey.
3 i will probably sleep about 5 hours a day tops and i will drink lots of green tea to keep me awake.
4 i will play nonstop wit my bro and my homie and many other friends
5 only thing that can get in my way is school but thats only for like 4 hours a day. during that time i will try to sleep some more.

Diablo3 is going to be great. it reminds me of when d2 came out. me and my brother pre ordered copies at best buy for 15$ then it came out at gamestop earlier so we ditched the 15$ and bought it at gamestop. my mom was like u wasted your money but we told her we would pay 15$ to play this game a couple days earlier.

I'll read some forums to see what people say about it, as well as some actual reviews. I'll then go back to playing Civ4 (or possibly even Civ5 by then), wait 2 or 3 weeks, and then read what everyones saying again. I'll then decide whether or not to buy it. If I do then I'll make the character that most people complain about being completely underpowered and useless, just to make a point.

1) undecided , but probably male wizard then female barbarian

2) it to be fun and easy to pick up , yes complex enough later on.

3) definitely , sufficient to run @ maximum fps

4) 2 tankers , 2 mage , versatile teaming

5)won't play straight , but will have a regular schedule for it, it wouldn't be a sprint but a marathon
