View Full Version : Do die facets stack?
For example, lightning die facets cast level 47 chain lightning when you die. So if I have 2 die facets, does chain lightning cast twice? Does it cast once but at level 94? Or is there no point in having more than 1 die facet on my character other than to be OCD....?
Geral rule, the chance of casting are added if the spell lvl is the same.
Two die facet of the same element give you 200% chance of casting () and the spell lvl remain the same.
So there's no point of having more than one per element (and I guessing you're not using them for "ctc on dying" part )
EDIT: OCD?!
yea OCD, for people who want to be perfect and have everything socketed with die facets just to be uniform. Having 5 dies and 1 level might drive someone crazy.

OCD=Obsessive Compulsion Disorder isn't it?

You're joking right!?
Seriously some people should get a life... :coffee:

I should load up my merc with facets that cast attacks when he dies, that will pretty much be his only contribution to most battles anyway.
it is useless to have more then 1 die facet in one peace of equipment, but how does it work if you have few die facets in diferrent pieces like helm, shield and armor?
do you get 3 simultanious casts? sounds logical to me, but....

Nope, still won't stack in any way.

I'm pretty certain I've read that mercenaries don't trigger "on death" CtCs.

I was curious, so I tested it just now. The ctc does work with the mercenary death. Now... on to more important questions...
Anyone got 50k for a resurrection?

Hmm, kamikaze merc.... I like it.

Nice! Thank you for testing :)
Hmm.. That opens up some interesting builds ;)

Hmm, doubt it. At first glance you'd think those high level on death ctc's would have a serious punch to them, but they don't really.
Meteor:
Current Skill Level: 31
Fire Damage: 1762-1842
Radius: 4 yards
Average Fire Damage: 405-426 per second
Chain Lightning:
Current Skill Level: 47
14 hits
Lightning Damage: 1-686
Blizzard:
Current Skill Level: 37
Cold Damage: 1575-1641
Duration: 4 seconds
Poison Nova:
Current Skill Level: 51
Poison Damage: 1637-1671

Rather pathetic don't you think?

What about any +skills or +dmg equipment the merc is wearing? Do they add in too?
Or if you were a sorc with +LM lvl20 & 20 or so points in synergies, would they add in to the eg. lvl47 CL? It wouldnt make any difference to a dead sorc, but an interesting question. Or to the CtC on level rather than die CL?

+ skills don't work. The ctc level it's fixed no matter what.
Synergies and masteries do work. I don't know for sure if +% damage work but it seems logic to me that it does.
you get +18 to fireball with 2 trang oul items... (helm+armor on act 3 merc)
add 6 sox sword and 4 sox shield filled with 5-5 facets...

My initial reaction to that would be to say that it probably gets nerfed to +3 like trang's on a Sorc does, or CTA on a Barb does. Though I would be interested to see whether this actually happens with mercs or not.

I think that it wouldn't be capped at +3, since the Iron Wolf technically isn't a sorc even if he has sorc skills. Just like the Rogue and the Amazon.

Well I did some very quick tests out of curiosity. I can't see any significant increase in the damage dealt by an Iron Wolf's Fireball after equipping him with a +63 Fireball (OSkill) helmet.
Indeed, I would have expected at least a little difference when I put two more +63 Fireball items on him, but again his damage didn't appear to be significantly affected, if at all. These tests were hardly thorough, but it wouldn't surprise me if OSkills turn out not to work at all on mercs.

^ Give him a +63 To All Skills item and see if there is an increase in damage.

^ Give him a +63 To All Skills item and see if there is an increase in damage.Easier said than done, the maximum is +7 All Skills on any single item. Tried it on all four equippable slots and his damage is noticeably better.
To confirm the OSkill thing, I tried it on an Act2 Merc and a +10 Might (Oskill) item. It gave him exactly +3 Might, despite him not being a Paladin.
