What do u think about this (D3Wiki@diii.net wizard skill tree) :
Penetrating Spells
Reduces the resistance of your targets to your spells by 8%. Targets with negative resistance take additional damage from spells.
Rank: 0/15
Another of the highly-useful passive skills possessed by the Wizard. Sort of a full time Lower Resistance aura, that seems to work with all types of magic.
Dont u think if there will be a way to break immunity this skill will allow wizard players to focus on 1 or 2 skills and to get very high damage comparing to other classes who will use 5-6 skills to deal with immunes as blizzard said ?

Well,we dont really know all other class' skills,so its early days to worry about that... And everything else will be sorted out through Beta testing... Of which we can hopefully be part of!:whistling:

Keep on dreaming. ;) There will be big balance issues. This is inevitable. ;)

I'm guessing the effect will be like facets; they don't have the immunity breaking feature of convicion or lower resist.
Otherwise, players would indeed only use one elemental form of damage which Blizzard doesn't want. IIRC, there will be immunes, and players will have more spell selection to help deal with them, unlike in d2.

yeah this skill will probably have a cap on it if a monster is indeed immune

It wouldn't really surprise me to have Blizzard do something like make it so that if something is immune, it is immune. I think it would be awesome if you couldn't break immunity. That would truly make people balance their builds instead of going for glass cannon one spell style play.
I doubt this will happen, but I wouldn't mind it. The only problem would be something like double immune uniques, but if Blizzard carefully designs how uniques are spawned so that certain immunities don't spawn together, it wouldn't be a big issue.

Well you have to remember that active attack spells are 1 point skills now. It's not like D2 where you pump 20 points into your primary skill. The new skill system will make you viable against any immunities. 1 point per active skill, and the passives have an effect on multiple actives.
As far as the other classes are concerned, they'll be doing melee or other types of damage. (Barb melee, WD doing various types of melee and elemental)
It's probable that a Wizard will focus more on one element than the others, but overall they won't be as one element specific as the D2 sorceresses were.

Actually, I have been hearing people say that the active skills are not one point. They are just set at that thus far for the Blizzcon demo, but you will be able to pump many more points into them in the final version. I can't give you a citation, maybe someone else can, but that is was I am hearing. Check out the Barbarian Skill trees wiki on this site for some references to that, as well as screen shots from the WWI that show active skills with more points in them.

Hmm, that's interesting. I was kinda liking the one point per active skill setup. I suppose we'll have to wait until we see the final mechanic, but in either case, the devs have been saying that want players to focus on having multiple active skills rather than just one or two as it was in the past.
I like the one point for active skills as well, been trying to find out where the information is that they will have more ranks later. Waiting for a quote before I believe it.

But isn't that part of the fun? Finding "flaws" that you can exploit until they patch it up. Then you hunt for "flaws" again?
With "flaws" I mean good skill choice and research... Not just throwing points at skills and hoping for a legend... :scratchchin:

It doesn't matter what Blizzard do regarding immunities, I'm going to make a one-trick-pony-type char for dueling purposes anyway

Man, it is only blizzcon setup :D With release u can put much more points in to active skills ( this is confirmed but i dont remember where exactly).

hard to really talk about how people will build thier char until we know how many points we are going to get. looks to me like we are going to need alot if they want us to use 5/6 different skills, granted the skill itself is 1/1 but if the masteries are all xx/15 thats gonna cost

You don't have to max it, I guess. Having too many points to invest is not a good idea.

i agree, if you can max everything then it is pointless to give points at all, just really curious to see how much we get. too few could limit builds as everyone will streamline for the best skill and forget the rest but too many just ruined the game lol.
i think that barbarian is more powerful, his skill no requiere mana and only four skill requiere fury
the whirlind is free!!!
