Worth getting?

Since D3 won't be released for more than a year, my basic question: Is DII still worth getting? Do people still play? How active is the community? Etc, etc.

Or should I look for another hack/slash RPG to play in the meantime? Like Dungeon Siege or something.

A year playing D2 is a year well spent in my book.

There are still thosands of players obsessed with Diablo, more so since the D3 announcement. My advice, dive in mate you'll have a blast.

Definitely worth getting. It can be picked up incredibly cheaply now (I bought D2+LOD for the equivalent of $10 recently) so there's not much to lose.

Yes, buy it. Or even better, buy 2 copies. I'm not joking, it's very useful to safely pass stuff from one character to the other, but that's more an issue for diehards and you can start out with one copy of the game, I guess :azn:.

I tried Dungeon Siege back in the day. I played it for a week, and I went straight back to D2. D2 has much more depth and replayability. +1 D2.
