Without super-awesome gear, players8 is a little slow with sorcs in single player. They're just too fragile around swarms, and having to branch into two trees means your damage won't be top-end.

Basically, if you have Infinity you can make a pure lightning sorc (and stick the polearm on your merc), otherwise monster immunities will pretty much force you to go with a dual-element build. If you're willing to skip cold-immunes (or wait patiently for your merc to kill them) then a pure Blizzard sorc can be very strong too (but I don't recommend waiting on the merc to kill cold immunes; it gets boringly slow quite quickly).

For dual-element builds, the three that are probably most powerful and least item-dependent are Meteorb, Blizzballer, and CL/FO.

Build guides for all of these can be found in the stickied thread near the top of this forum (the one that says "Sorceress Guide & Knowledge Library").

One tip: Use Static Field as much as possible. It's one of the few skills with damage that scales, so it's just as effective in an 8-player game as it is in a 1-player game.

that where the rwm/rrm mod`s come in. Look in the single player fag`s for how to use them. One of these mods make rune names color red when they are on the ground (pressing alt) and the other makes all runewords availeble in sp.

I would recommend against FO/CL for the first time sorc. Its a build that doesnt excel against cold immunes. Orb is also relatively weak compared to blizz with synergies on /players8. With cold immunes, a lot of hell monsters have a fair amoubnt of light resists (not immunes, but resists), rendering the light tree (which is minus about 40 points of synergies) a little weak.

Meteorb is a fairly solid first time build and can go through hell with relative ease.

You can't make an Infinity in Single Player. I think Sirpoopsalot was assuming that you would play Ladder but simply prefered to play solo. The only way to get an Infinity in non-Ladder is from players who had ladder characters that at the end of the season were transfered to Non-Ladder. But those items will be very expensive.

I think your best option is to stick with one of the stronger dual-tree sorcs, i.e. Meteorb or Blizzball.
