View Full Version : how do people have so much stuff?
Hi, I just recently started playing again after about a 4 year break. How do people have so much stuff? I hear of people playing for a week having every runeword and Tal's/IK's full set and everything. When I was playing, Tal and IK armor were almost impossible to find, and now everyone and their mother has one. Are all of these dupes (runes, Ik armor, etc...), or are there so many bots finding these items that they just aren't that rare anymore? I also heard alot of people actually buy these items, which I think is rediculous, but that's just me. At least now I have a chance of getting all the gear I want for pretty cheap. Let me know what you think.
They cheat. Simple as that.

1) Multiple hacks + botting program + leave overnight = rich.
2) Find one uber godly item (e.g. 2/20/20/2os Paladin Circlet) and trade it to the type 1 people for multiple items.
And probably the rarest type:
3) Play 8 hours or more a day in an efficient manner, while buying low and selling high.
These guys are both rong (no offense). I don't cheat or hack or dupe or have bots. Imo its not worth risking my account geting deleted. I did buy items one time but it was only 2 sojs and it was only because I traded 4 them like 3 times and they kept poofin.
My point is its not impossible to get all these things without cheating. The real key is just to mf. I built a mf sorc a couple weeks ago and I have tons of uniques and sets now.
Regarding runewords the only way to get em cheap is to play ladder and make em yourself.... fort spirit insight ect all are easy to make..but can only b made on ladder.
It really is possible without cheating.

@sh25: Some questions then:
1) You claimed to have MF your wealth. Please tell us what this "wealth" is.
2) How did you level your Sorceress? Did you do solo Baal runs?
3) What gear do you have on your MF sorc, and how did you trade for it?
4) How would you, theorectically, get a Lo rune for your "Fortitude"?

MFing works in the long run, but if you're gonna get all the crazy runewords and IK armor legitimately, you're gonna be working at it aaalllllllll week. ...And some months after that, too. Maybe some years tacked on, as well.
If someone on b.net gets Infinity or a HotO or whatev's in a week, they traded for what is most likely a duped/hacked item. End o' story.
I managed to get a complete IK set legitimately. I found the armour after killing Baal, the rest was easy. However, that is the only really impressive stuff I have. No Enigma etc for me.

While back before the reset, most completed sets, including IK, were buyable for a single Ist in Ladder. Probably still is?

Personally the easiest way to get "rich" in this game is actually quite simple. Build up a sorc (for tele) use her to run countess n summoner for keys (T and H key) and eventually make her strong enough to run nikhal for dkeys. Get your 3 keysets (build a smiter as well) then run ubers, get unid torch n offer it up for a good price. All keys have a much higher chance to drop then any unique or rare item. Also Nikhal has the highest ilvl in the game next to baal so running him for keys and mfing you get a 2 for 1 deal. (just gotta be careful of that corpse explosion) I just found a Vex rune on him (in a full room of people) the other day I was exteremly happy of course. Wash, rinse, repeat. :thumbup:

To give a proper reply to the original post. The longer you play the more experience you have. There's plenty of ways on how to get rich and you just have to know how to / what to look out for.
Here are some examples
- Grushing to forge like mad in the beginning of the ladder, cube runes to HRs and sell them as they're very expensive at the beginning (before they gut dupes massively).
- MF for blue/rare extremly valuable items (jewels, jeweler's armors/shields with 90+life / blocking, magic orbs with good skills fcr and sockets, magical/rare circlets, tripple res boots, +2 skills ias cb gloves etc...)
- Run countess for lower runes and roll spirits for example (35 fcr or perfect spirit monarch can be sold for decent money)
- Farm keys/torches/clone hunt
- Trade
i got rich by honest mf/selling/rolling.. Started this ladder with a necro summoner, who i played solo until lvl 92. Yes thats right. no mass baalruns! only solo for mf! Ist um from hf's, found ohm in trav.. traded sumthing for mal, made cta (6bo). traded it, made new. got 5 bo or sumthing. and so on:) soon i had enough for enigma. hoto and such.. wich got me a mf hammerdin! from there its easy^^
Yeah, forgot about charm rolling. I got some decent profit from it too.
I started with blizzard mf sorc. Grinded with her to get gear for hammer (I lvled her to 92 on 85 areas only - didn't do baalruns).
Now i got my hammerdin on lvl 94 mostly from solo baal runs.
If you play enough, you're gonna end up finding some high end pieces of equip sooner or later...
I got rich after my MF light-orb sorc---well mostly hell sorc with good enough 350 mf now.
Got it to lvl 55 in norm baal - got free nm and hell rush for my baal quests in norm and NM ;) not bad price
Waited a while till I did hell and nm forge-got 2 puls - traded for shako-occulus (back in sept cost pul)
Then joined hell baal bot runs-they'll level crazy (call it cheating IDC-its the best way to get exp for noobs, like me)
After Lvl 88 it gets slow- get act 2 def merc with insight and decent armor (really nice and cheap)
Then shenk-eldrich (frigid highland) -thresher socket (arreat summit)
Found skill gcs, 4 tal armors, one IK. Then trade them or use em :)
Play 16 hours every day. It will ruin your life but in Diablo2 you will be leet and rich...
Most of the rich players use *another tradeforum* where they have tonns of *another kind of currency, wich is not allowed to talk here* so ladder reset will have no affect to their wealth. (*For moderators.* This is not an ad of another website, just explanation to people who are desperate and cant understansd why some players are so rich)
Or try to get incredibly lucky and find items like 6/40 javelins, JMoD, 15/40 jewels, PC 45life skillers, and after that try to find someone who has enough HR´s to buy them.
