I know that the Diablo II team really toyed around with this with the Diablo II patches, and it added a very unique and challenging aspect to playing online. I would hope they include World Events in Diablo III, and I hope they make them more interesting than just hunting an Uber Diablo or opening a portal to Chaos Tristram.

What ideas for Diablo III World Events can YOU think of?

How can we when we do not even know what the story is and/or what bosses are in it?

What is always nice is a cool siege scenario. The Act5 was a bit lame but when you have several NPCs nuke it out, with melee in front, mages in the back it could be nice. Have some big demons in the back and you must sneak/get past the army and kill the big boss.

i liked the idea of the act 5 siege but it could have been so much better, the barbs were so lifeless that it ruined the effect. If they could do something like that in D3 but better I would love it

So, lets say you've been busy and haven't logged into B.net for a while. Now imagine getting a real email from an NPC asking for help from one of your characters, logging onto b.net, going to where the email told you and completing the email quest for achievements, etc.

Have the towns under siege for a week or so, having the heroes defend them as best they can (Act I excluded) Could be interesting.

I would like to see a large scale battle with some sort of objective that everyone on bnet has to try work toward. I don't really know how it could work with seperate game instances. Maybe a number of times something has to be killed (but you know way cooler than that). Anyway what I really want is some consequences. If the community wins something happens and if the community loses another. Whether it's changes to the look and feel of some game locations or the loss of a NPC...just something to keep things slightly fresh.
