Well for you hardcore lore fans.... anyone else dissapointed with the statement that there may be other worlds in the Diablo universe.... To me, it doesn't make Sanctuary/High Heavens/ Burning Hells as special.... I'm just worried that they'll rip Warcraft off with making stuff up as they go without doing too much of a background story check.... anyone else feel that way?
Side Note: With that statment, I wonder if that'll take effect in D3, hopefully not, with the only exception is a reasonable explanation..... but the side note was going to be, any new character ideas? Maybe we'll see Thrall.... or a protoss....... *sarcastic* "yeah..."

Haha... Great minds... Even the thread name is almost identical... And don't worry about people(well 2 people so far) replying to the other thread, there is just more traffic in the General Discussion thread...

Lol, yeah more disscusion there. This is more of a typical "what are they thinking. they're stupid, let's sign a petition to make them change it! I wanna B*t*h about it!" type of thread

I guess it more fun for most to tear down and complain about anything and everything than actually contribute by cool rational and knowledge of the subject matter. Personally I think that most post before they think...

You say that there is a lot of lore in the Sin war Trilogy, I read the 1st one in July, after my friend ordered all three for my birthday. But the problem with sitting in a 3rd world country is that I have volumes 1 and 3 now and I have waited for 2 for more than 4 months now and since it was a gift I can't call the distributers to get their act together! haha... But I was a little disappointed with the first volume, expected more lore! I really enjoy the entire Diablo Universe... How about the Diablo Archive and the compilation of books in there? I want to order that on for the holidays, have you read them?

Is that a direct insult to me?... j/k that's me ^.^

Aye, I see your dilemma. The Richard A Knaak books are an immense source for finding detailed origins and characteristics for many of the characters and places. It has been mentioned in interviews that he worked directly with Chris Metzen in setting the basis for the lore. They've announced that his novels are now the lore for the games. They'll set you up for who/what everything is and how their roles may play in the future of Diablo. However, many of the subjects mentioned with strong relevance to Diablo 3 have only been mentioned/introduced in the novels. Such as Imperius or the Angrius Council, whom will most likely take a large part in the story.
IT's also interesting to look at various interviews for some hints of lore. There's an interview around where the reporter asks Jay Wilson if there will be bosses who interact/fight with one another. Wilson's response was "definitely". However, he wouldn't mention as to who they are. From a game perspective, it could be anything or anyone, but that'd be mostly for show. From a lore perspective it'd have to be strong opponents they have had/will have a reason to confront one another. What comes to mind for me is possibly Imperius and a being of the Burning Hells like Belial/Azmodan. Or it could be one of the Primes versus an angel. Only time will tell the future motives....
I strongly recommend the Knaak books just because of relevance to story. The other books don't have much future content in them, but do provide some back story for current characters like Bartuc. Knaak is a moderate writer in story progression, but his presentation and description is fantastic. The details he gives are usually a clear cut picture in the mind. Also if you're interested in the lore, look directly at the manuals and games. Almost everything in those two can be used as a direct quote (with the given exception of the 'Pandemonium' events).
I really enjoy the wiki on this site, but it lacks in lore content. Everything else is top notch and amazing. I really admire the work the site members puts into it. Maybe I'll have to run through the manuals/game/books getting quotes and detailed pages for the wiki. But here's a good site for lore content. http://diablo.wikia.com/wiki/Diablo_Wiki

Thanks for the advice. I really can't wait to get my claws on the second sin war book. It’s very frustrating seeing the third book every day, asking to forget about its predecessor and just read it...haha. Alas, that would not be wise... I have read almost everything in a few Diablo wiki's etc. so I am not completely clueless but I think that the books give you a much more rounded knowledge...

I agree that the Diii.net wiki needs to be buffed up in terms of lore and will be better off if you add some of your knowledge onto it... I have some time in November after my exams and I might just attempt some wiki'ing but I am sure that Diii's wiki is much safer in your hands!

Anything that falls into my hands turns into Jello........ don't know how or why.... but it does. I'll just find quotes and copy and past em... Direct source. Maybe I'll see if I can put up a theory section and see if we can gather some solid theories from the boards and people.... that's if the diii.net members will let me. I don't know how it works, might aswell give it a try first.

Well, like I said after my exams I really want to work on Diablo lore and maybe some wiki-updates so count me in... I am sure that if you have people working with you on this type of thing is hard to mess up too badly...

And Diii members won't let you do anything! You need to just go do it... And hope that some people appreciate your work while others complain...
