Looks like the admin/mods finally made the wizard subforum =D

I'll be building one as my second character. Naturally I have to make a WD first.
I was definately gonna make Barbarian first, but now I think it will be a Wizard :) Hard to say yet. Sorc and Barb was my favourite chars in D2 also.

Im gonna have to agree that a Wizard is my second character after a Barbarian .. But that Demo video is really cool and the wizard appears to be a very offensive character ..
Ps - that Skeleton King laugh was so evil , I love it ...

My first char will almost certainly be a Wizard, Sorc was my favorite char from d2, can't see that changing especially with dual elements included in all skill trees. :D

I still like Witch Doctor better, but the Wizard looks interesting as well, finally, a proper spellcaster that knows more than just elements alone.
Circe, that's classic.
I was a sorceror back in '95, a sorceress when D2 came around, leveled a few mages to 70 on WoW - you sure bet the Wizard will be my class when D3 is released!

Btw, my first char will most definetly be HC Wizard.
wiz is my favorite at this point. And since, unlike most of you, I've actually played all 3 chars... my vote wins. ;)
it's hard to judge from just 20 or 30 minutes of low level play on each char, but...
barb felt just like the d2 barb at that level; lots of single target hits. Big damage; kill almost everything with one bop, but I don't enjoy d2 barbs until the higher levels, when they're fast, I can use fury or WW, the passives are filling in nicely, the equip is fixed up, etc.
WD felt like a necro with effective offensive spells. fun for the visuals and destruction, but actually pretty easy in the blizzcon demo. 2 mongrels could tank almost anything, giving me free slaughtering from the rear with firebats and plague of toads and skullfire.
wiz felt like a mid-level d2 sorc, but with a wider variety of spells and vastly improved graphics. I had the most fun playing that class.

Be prepared to wait for a very long eternity then. I remember the wait for D2 and i seriously was totally baffled when gamers were presented with the beta. I got an invitation for beta at that time, but i was sold long before to D2, and now D3. The caster class is simply my personal playstyle.
Fromt the B-Roll HD Movie (http://gamevideos.1up.com/video/id/22069) i saw, the just got it right once again. Same kind of class design and idea, but totally different approach. Love it.

Me, i just started a short while ago.
Still loving Diablo 2 though.
I wish i had started playing sooner.

I was eager to see wizard forum emerge right when they announced it on Blizzcon, but the Admins were kind of busy then :whistling: Now we can start building our knowledge and when Diablo III arrives in 2010 (2009 is possibly too optimistic) we can just go and make our builds ;)
So lets start scrapping information! *puts up wizard information radar on defcon 6*
About avatar: Yes one has to go with the signs of the time. D2 Sorceress avatar has been put to rest.

I can't wait for D3.
When it comes out, i'll have graduated from Secondary School.
So i'll have about 6 months to play diablo 3 !!!!
Im aspiring to be one of the top Wizards on US.West.
But thats highly unlikely.

I too was a beta tester for D2, those were the days. Eight years later and we're on the cusp of another great spell-caster class! Flux I'm sure there's more than a few people who're envying your gameplay opportunity even if it is in alpha (I know I am). Glad to hear the Wizard gameplay experience felt better than the other two classes.
2009/2010 seems to go good to be true honestly, because this is Bliz, they will polish this up til til it's shining - 2011 release? maybe.

I played the Wizard for 50 gazzillion more hours than ou did.

as of now the wiz is gonna be my first though its highly likely the wiz will drop to 2 after the archer class is announced. the WD is a close second right now as i always enjoyed necro so if he really plays the same but with more effective offensive skills i am sure to enjoy that class alot.
Wow what an impressive class for sure - I haven't checked progress for quite a while and then I log on to diablo3.com to see that the wizard has now been made public...
I was really really hoping for a true offensive elementalist-type class and my first impression is just ...wow:) I'm not so sure any more that my first class will be a barbarian...
Just gonna poke in here to announce I'll likely do a Wizard char first myself. It's basically a Sorceress that was kicked out of Zann Esu because she was too unruly, and the same happened with the Vizjerei.
It's like a Sorceress, but more versatile.

We actually discussed this while in the press room at Blizzcon on the first day; I was posting in the forum from there, so could have added it then. We just thought it would be better to allow the wizard and general conversation to go on in the main d3 forum for a few days, instead of splitting up all the chat when there were 200 people in the forum and almost every thread had wizard mentions along with the other new topics of discussion.
Of course then I forgot to add the wizard forum for several days after blizzcon, until someone poked me about it.

The Wizard is awesome, I was waiting to see the new spellcaster. Im happy to say i really am pleased. This will definitely be my first class. Spellcasters rock!!!!!
Only thing i would've like to see a cooler name maybe mage, witch, etc just throwing stuff out there.

Circe great name you better grab it fast before it goes.
Personally I will name my first wizard either Hecate or Isis
(probably Hecate because my d2 account had all names of greek gods i like haveing themes)

Wizard's looking really impressive! I can't wait to see the male version!
I'm normally a Barb player, but I'm certainly looking forward to the Wiz as well. She's just too powerful to be ignored! I especially love her mirror image and disintegrate spells! Kudos to Blizzard for dreaming up the slow time spell, and I'm looking forward to seeing what her hydra summon looks like with these new graphics. The only thing that bugs me is the fact that she floats for her teleport. I don't know why, it just rubs me the wrong way. I'd rather Blizzard make it look more effortless for her. But hey, at least she has a teleport spell! :thumbsup:
As for what to call him/her, I'll probably stick to Chinese names, since the Wiz is obviously based on a Chinese character design. Luckily I speak Chinese, so that helps. :smug:
