as long as the new mmo is not set in the diablo universe i will be happy, i want my diablo games to stay the way they are

Well, there are three options for a new Blizzard MMOG:
1. Diablo
2. StarCraft
3. entirely new universe
Of those, Diablo seems by far the least likely. What cool stuff could you do in the Diablo universe that you can't in WoW? D3 brings Diablo even closer to WoW gameplay mechanics. It would be a new, darker setting perhaps, and very fast-paced combat (cf. Tabula Rasa), but that's about it.
StarCraft would let you do very different things. Huge-scale PvP, for example, in a dynamic world where you have to help your side develop and expand. Hopefully not "WoW in Space", anyway.
Personally, I'm hoping for something new. IIRC, this was sort of hinted at in one of the Blizzcon panels, where they talked about deciding whether to develop products in existing universes, or to create a new one. Given that StarCraft was their last original setting, ten years ago, I think this is a safe bet.

I would be VERY surprised if it was Starcraft, Diablo, or WoW anything. I am guessing that it will be something entirely new.

If its not something new at least I hope its some old good forgotten game from the past. Like how Bethesda got the rights to make Fallout 3.
The worlds in MMO always need to have some sort of familiarity to them so I dont expect it to be something ENTERILY new but I expect that its not from the big 3 franchises.

I don't know... I love everything Diablo so if they choose fill up the Universe a little more I am not going to complain... But it seems that some people have WOW-ophobia... It will be suicide to copy and paste WOW in to the Diablo universe and Blizzard people are smart enough to realise that so relax... I am sure whatever they are working on is going to be mind-blowing...
My guess is whatever it is, will be close to 5 years away.
My hopes are that it does not involve elves, swords and typical D&D'ish stuff. I am ready for something post apocalyptic, space, cyber punk, horror, modern or futuristic. Don't get me wrong, I liked all those fantasy MMO's, and played them all, just ready for a change of genre.
I'm not a rts game fan, so I have no clue about Starcraft lore and how interesting it would be. But as I said, I hope this next game does something entirely different from the fantasy thing.

my problem with a diablo mmo is not that i feel it will be another wow, its that i do not have the time to invest into a mmo meaning i will miss out on a game i know i would love to play

That, unfortunately, is a good point... I am not a hardcore gamer (bar Diablo) at all, I don't play WoW because I didn't have the time when the game came out and now it’s too late to start(I would have really like to play it a little just to get the WoW-feel)... Don't we all wish we could just get (healthy) fast-food and play Diablo III the entire day... Unfortunately someone has to bring in the bacon...

No, now is the right time to start. By the time WotLK comes you will be mid60 or 70. :thumbup:
