this is not a bash thread, so forgive me if it sounds like it.
its struck me as dumfound that ppl travel from all over the place to blizzcon, ask a ton of questions - a majority that are relavent, however never anything pushing about hardcore mode? this is diii.net not diablosoftcore.net? :) so how about asking questions across the board - about the overall game, both modus and more?
do really none of the interviewers just not play hardcore?
are hardcore players really that small a minority?
diablo franchise is one of the only games to offer such an extreme modus of play, yet it seems to remain something of an "elitist" circle of players that is ok to forget -but not all of them are assholes.
i have played d2 hardcore since completing pre-LOD projects such as GERBarb (first ever lvl 99 barb) and GERMania (first ever lvl99 sorc) patch 1.0-1.05 and then became a solid hardcore player after that.
i enjoy the rush, thrill and fact that every game i enter could be my last, every quest i did could be my last, every mob i encountered could be my last - every pvp i did/pk/griefer i encountered could be my last OR give me the satisfaction of sending them back to lvl1 and a top trophy - their ear.
please can someone pass this to flux and ask him to present a few questions regarding the hardcore modus that a large community is in the dark about:
1) how will hardcore players fight/pvp each other? jay mentioned no more hostile for softcore modus but will remain in hardcore in a previous gameplay panel interview?
2) many of the hardcore ladders and communities were shaped by ladder-duels/pk hits - is the only way for the ladder to be "painted grey" from dying to mobs/dc's?
3) in hardcore can u still save a dead friends loot? does this include saving their skill runes?
4) are there going to be any constant public pvp collesiums for players to enter and randomly be pittted against each other? any spectator options? hardcore/softcore pvp tournament e-sports?
5) with health globes (great idea btw!) it definately means more tactical/strategic play involved and no more heal pots - does this mean that this "ironman" method is how the ladder deaths will be dealt with/controlled rather than being impacted by player/community?
6) clan support? it said it would be easier to work this on d3, grp up, etc - is is this now scrapped? there were many clan wars in hardcore communities - will there be a system that allows members of clans involved in clan wars to enter each others games and fight to the death? (obviously not auto grp bcus of the war status?)
7) there are rumors that diablo3 is split into 2 games - retail and then pay2play. hardcore is a pay2play option (not a problem) so thats why no information is being distributed - but what other pay2play options are there - if at all true?
its just a few questions, it seems there are thousands of softcore interviewers at blizzcon, it wont hurt for you to help answer a few questions that the hardcore community wishes to lay rest to/see some light shed on what are for hardcore players - major player/community issues.
i thank you in advance for your time and ear for the hardcore community.
keep up the good work diii.net :)
