Could this merc survive ubers?

I have three characters that I am concentrating building wealth on and eventually I'd like to outfit them the best possible for what I use them for. I currently am working on outfitting my Paladin and I've got pretty good gear for him. I might switch some things around, getting a Last Wish instead of my Grief PB and an Exile to replace my Sanctuary.

Anyway, this character doesn't have a merc at all and I've been pondering what would be the best route. I was generally thinking of going A2 Might with Infinity and putting the last several points in my paladin towards Resist Lightning for both the +max lightning resist and the synergy for Holy Shock so I could have dual dreams in my stash and go around zapping things for a rush or levelling lower characters as well as any non-UberTrist I'd like to do. I was planning on this because it's an established fact that mercenaries don't survive UT well.

But then I was thinking: What about an A5 Merc with a Eth Last Wish, Eth Up'd Guardian Angel socketed with either an Um or Ber depending on what Meph's conviction would do to his resists and, also depending on that, either a Crown of Ages (UmUm or BerBer) or an Eth Kira's (Ber).

Besides being a fairly kick *** merc, is it possible he'd be able to survive Ubers without being too potion intensive?

AFAIK people tend to kill their mercs before starting an UT run since the mercs like to aggro the entire level at once, sending 2-3 of the Ubers your way at once.

Well mercs also die to quick to be of any use.

I was hoping someone would have some insight on if this would actually survive.

Maybe an Act 3 merc with sanctuary aura to knockback undeads could do it.

I would advice against the use of auradins in UT, it will most likely crash the game :P

mercs in UT have a lifespan measured in milliseconds. they do less damage too ubers and take more damage from them.

as mentioned, they also have a habit of drawing all three of them out at the same time.

leave your henchidiot dead for UT runs. if you need help to do it, get a friend in.

bosses do 10x damage to mercs. Having ber or 5% DR on a merc wont be helping much. He'll just die in 0.0105 seconds rather than 0.0100 seconds.

I don't think any Merc will survive the Ubers. The best longevity (maybe 10 seconds :rolf:) came from my A3 Merc with Lawbringer/dual Dreams and eth CoH.

The only merc that can survive contact for long is one in a full summoners army. I think the AI selective targets mercenaries but if you can keep him alive with adept use of golem, life tap, decrepify and terror then he makes a good contribution with CB and might.
