ok i believe this goes best here but not 100% sure.
does neone have info on what affects the repair cost of an item?
heres what im mainly looking at.
i wana make enigma but i don't wana hunt orts like crazy and 2mill per crack is way 2 much.
what affects the price? is it the runes somewhat? Is it the quality superior normal cracked? is it enhanced durability?
not sure if it would be better to put in plain or superior item. but also y do some people not want superior durability?
ne and all questions you can ask would be big help to me ty much.

Repair Cost = [ item_value * (max_dur/dur) * (128 / 1024) ]
item_value is affected by the stats/modifiers/charges/quality/etc. an item has. So yes, by putting runes into an armor, you are making it's item_value increase, which drives up repair cost, but not as much as you'd think. The real killer in high costs is "Superior" status, which, IIRC, multiples item_value by quite a bit, especially the Enhanced Durability. It doesn't do much for you, but it does quite a whopper to item_value.
So that's pretty much why people try to avoid Enhanced Durability.
As to what base you should choose...
1. Avoid Enhanced Durability. Yuck.
2. Want high re-sell value? Consider taking 10%+ Enhanced Defence for those perfectionists.
3. Planning to use it on a PvP character where defence is important and can be boosted skillwise (ie Paladin or Barbarian in general)? Consider taking 10%+ Enhanced Defence.
4. Don't care about #2 or #3, and just want convenience? Make it in a plain base. And trust me, defence is highly overrated.
[edit] Fixed something I said wrongly.

Orts are easy to get, I don't really see the problem. :S
the problem is accidently running to the NPC and hitting repair all... and watching all your gold dissapear.... some habbits are hard to break!

Your first post was a hard act to follow, not a bad attempt tho by randomly finding a 10 month old thread to revive :).
