Hello guys,

as some of you might know (i.e. the ones that read the OT thread) I am going to leave my homecountry Germany tomorrow for at least 11 months to explore a bit of what our beautiful world has to offer.

First of all, I have always enjoyed these forums (especially the PvP forum and the assassin forum (connection?!)) because I personally think that some of the most knowledgable people from all realms post here frequently, and because this forums always seemed more mature than "others" (which I like as well but in a different way) and also more personal.
Anyways, thanks for the help and support and big shoutouts to grandpa Mikey who does an exceptionally great job moderating the PvP forums and to Dave, Max and Chris for all the nice debates about assassins and friendship :pancake:

Alright. I am quite a bit nervous right now.

My first flight will be to Kuala Lumpur/Malaysia and we will stay at southeast Asia for about 4 months until we take a plane from Bankok to Buenos Aires/Argentina to take some Spanish lessons and go on traveling through the south American continent (Patagonia, Andes, Amazon, dont know).
Apart from what has been said above there are absolutely no plans yet, we (me and a friend) will just travel with the flow and go wherever we want to.

For those of you that are interested:
I made a homepage with a blog [will probably mainly be German for family and friends and some of them dont speak English] which will be updated every few days (depends on how often we can find internet cafés or couch surfers with internet connection), a gallery where we will frequently upload pictures from nature/people/anything, a guestbook and a satellite map from google where you can exactly see where we have gone and where we currently are.
URL: www.mounded.de (= Mo und Ed = our names)
There is no content yet but wait 2 days and there will be for sure hehe.

I guess I will be able to post on the forums now and then as well.
Thanks and greetings,

Moe

PS: This means of course that I quit D2 :pancake:

See you baddie! ^)^

Make sure to post while on your trip :whistling:

I'll check the website as well, my German is quite horrible but I will watch pics ^^

I guess the countdown to D3 begins tomorrow (you will play right?).

It's trolls and spammers like you that make the forum what it is ~_~;;

You've been quite a contributor and I hope you do continue to "bestow us with flakes of your knowledge" as one of the long gone posters here would put it :D

edit: have someone keep your chars alive just in case ^^

But like most things of flesh and bone you had to slip away
Somehow I wasn't meant to have you then, not even for a day
I tore my heart and skin out thinking about you,
Suffered through a life lived without you,
Hoping you'd come back when it was time

oh baby, chris knows what i'm talking about

hey fellows

just wanna say hello for a second. i am now sitting in kuala lumpur (our second day here already) in a gamer internetcafe and its completely filled with asian gamerkids even though its 11pm lol.
the connection is still really slow so i cant upload any pictures yet.
being here has been totally exiting and fun so far. we live together with 3 malays in a flat with literally no furniture apart from 4 beds and a TV thats standing on the bottom. the kitchen is ermm not there and they just cook on the ground. its really funny to be here though and the people are so nice .. yesterday there was a party with more than 40 people in the flat and everyone brought selfmade food and other specialities, was very tasty. most malay people are muslim though and they are not allowed to drink alcohol so we went to a shop together with a malay girl and a dutch girl that came to the party as well to get some cheap wine and beer. people there were really open minded and it was cool to talk to them, the english of most of them was pretty good!
now we actually wanted to head eastwards and chill at some beaches first but we have been told that its not a good time to go east because of the monsoon so we will probably go to penang island at the westcoast. the one malay girl i already mentioned is from there and she offered us to stsay at her flat and to show us the island, which sounds like a cool thing.
today we went to the city to see the petronas towers and some stuff but the bus rides took so ****ing long zzz. i guess it were like 15 km one way and then another 5km with the train and together with all the waiting time we spent alone 8 hours to get there and back again. i guess we will need a lot of time and patience for all the transport in southeast asia hehe.

ok i gotta go now hope you guys are doing fine, see you
hot and wet greetings (its still 30 degrees at now 11:15pm) from malaysia,
moe

Thanks for update, cool that you're doing fine :)

Can't go wrong with cheap booze

I've bookmarked your page and decided to read the blog part in German, i used to speak that language a bit some 10 years ago, time to start German again.

Hey guys,

we are now in Pinang, a small island at the west coast of Malaysia.
We settled down at a beach for some days now and are about to explore the island. Yesterday we gathered with some local couchsurfers and went out to a bar and later for clubbing, was really exiting. People there are very helpful and so nice.
One of the couchsurfers we got to know is kind of the "coodinator" of the entire southeast asian CS community and he told us that he can connect us with people from all around SEA! He knows diving instructors at ko tao, people from the national parks and everything. thats going to be so cool.

Hope you guys are fine, we actualize our HP almost on a daily basis including pics.
Sunny greetings,
Moe

Hey again,

after some more time spent on Penang, Langkawi and some treks and boat rides around there with some locals we finally flew over to Kuching, which is the capital of one of the two departments of Malaysian Borneo (Serawak).
We spent three days in Bako National Park (close to Kuching) now (slept in our hammocks yay) and are going to take a bus at 19:30 which will take us to Miri overnight in a 14 hour ride from where we will have access to some more parks and stuff including huge caves and mountain trekkings - we are really into the experiece-nature-thing at the moment.
Overall it is pretty natural and rural here and transportation is a bit of a problem.

See you,
Moe

hey!
i just came back from mulu gurung national park in malaysian borneo, been there for like one week. its awesome there. they have the biggest cave system on the world and i have been able to go for some really really nice adventure caving (will upload pics on my page), seen millions of bats, went for a 3-day-trek through the jungle to a stone formation called "the pinnacles" (which are quite unique) and met a handful of funny guys from different places over europe (laughed a lot, had beer every evening and improved my spoken english a lot hehe), watched braveheart yesterday evening (FREEDOM!) and caught a plane to kota kinabalu today and want to head forwards to sipadan, an island a few hundred KM away from where i am. people told me it was a really beautiful dive spot so i will check this out.

@dave: are you quitting as well? any specific reason for that?

cheers to everyone who still bothers to read this thread hehehe :props:

if you mean the pictures of the caves that are already on the page: those are the niah caves. not the ones in mulu park. mulu's got a nice website though and we are just about to upload our own pics.
however it is pretty hard to get some good shots of the inner caves with our crappy "normal" digicams since its completely dark in there and synthetic light takes away the depth and makes things looks kinda flat ...

@dave: did you quit or what?

ps. right now i am seriously thinking about canceling my flight from bangkok to buenos aires in february (or, in fact, all my flights) because it somehow constricts me since i think i would like to stay in asia for a bit longer and go wherever i want and whenever i want. i guess i just booked the flights from home because it made me feel a bit more .. hmmm .. safe. and at the moment i just think it is not necessary. internet booking is so easy and you can catch pretty cheap last minute flights so yeah .. :scratchchin:
and i also consider not to start my studies next year and continue doing what i want at that point, because i have come to the conclusion that i dont have to rush as i am only 20 years old right now.
we want to go to cambodia, vietnam, laos first now when we are done with malaysia and enjoy some more laid-back and easy going traveling as the last month has been pretty crammed.
i have spent about 600 euros for 1 month which is less than i expected, taking into account that we booked 3 extra flights and all the fees for the guides.
we are kind of interested in going to india as well, and i have been thinking about doing some volunteering in nepal, possibly at an orphanage or something. i dont know right now .. things usually dont come as 'planned'.
alright im hungry now, gotta try to find some food court or so :P

greetings
moe

you should try and stop by shanghai/beijing/hong kong... china is in a very interesting state of development and the cities sort of reflect it

p.s. i got banned off closed, but i've been playing almost exclusively on d2pk anyway

Moritz

yeah i am definitely interested in china.
however, my problem is: i am also interested in almost every single part of the world hahaha

i guess i just need some more time on the road and decide spontaneously. china, russia, india, australia and south america are all on my list of possible destinations.
and a eurotrip wouldnt be so bad neither. in fact my friend (the one i am traveling with atm) is planning to fly back to germany in january or february to spend some time with his girlfriend and to buy an old VW t-3 bus (really old camper style hippie bus), customize it and drive around europe for a few months. but i think other parts of the world have higher priority at the moment for me.

ps. i so much love diving, been to mataking today and going to sipadan the day after tomorrow. the reefs with all the underwater plants, corals etc and the colorful fish, turtles, rays and **** are something to lose yourself to
