Try a thin black piece of nylon hose. Tie it over you eyes, the game and the real world will always be dark dark dark, and grainy:)

I meant I'd add gamma when things are bright and reduce it when things are dark so I can have a constant gray piece of awesum game.

But the nylon hose idea isn't bad. Its quicker to install/remove then to go in options.
