How does enhanced defense work on gloves?

Magefists can be upgraded to Crusader Gauntlets. Crusader Gauntlets have a maximum base defense of 69. Magefists give a maximum of 30% enhanced defense + 10 defense so best possible upgraded magefists would be 69 * 1.3 +10 = 99.7

But people claim the highest defense on doubled upped magefists is 98 so how can this be?

99 should be correct I think, unless the data on AS is wrong...

Arreat summit is indeed wrong for the Crusader Gauntlet max defense. It's 68, not 69. The max defense on an uppd Magefist is 98.
