View Full Version : Bow for AR problems?
I builst a gunslinger using Kijya pvm gunslinger guide. it's working great, but I'm having problems with LIs since all I have for them is a buriza.
I recently found a mal rune, so I figured I could get myself a proper bow. Either WF of eaglehorn. WF gives good dmg, but it doesn't help with AR problems the way eaglehorn does. Eaglehorn has kind of low dmg though, not even better than the buriza (but I suppose it's faster). I've heard AR problems are supposed to be fixed with charms, etc, but I can't seem to find that many charms with a lot of AR. Are they difficult to trade for? (I'm not very rich)
thanks for any input.

I haven't made a gunslinger myself, but I think you are having trouble with PIs rather than LIs. Doesn't a gunslinger use strafe? One possible solution to this is to get a Reaper's Toll for your merc (if you're SP modded or ladder), the decrepify breaks most PIs. There is also Atma's Scarab, an amulet w/5% chance to cast Amp Dmg, which you could carry around with you and switch onto it when necessary.
About your AR problems, there are many solutions. I would stay with the WF, and get a Demon Limb on switch. They are dirt cheap, and the Enchant charges will greatly boost your AR (and add fire dmg to your arrows, good again against PIs). You will also want a shield that gives +1 to skills (Lidless Wall, Wall of the Eyeless) in the other switch hand, to boost your Enchant. Enchant lasts about 6 minutes at a time this way. You should also try to get some nice AR charms of course. They are cheap unless they have nice suffixes like "of Vita". Steel Grand and Small charms are the best for AR, while Sharp and Fine charms give some AR and some Dmg. There are other AR options like hiring a blessed aim merc and/or the angelic amulet + ring combo, but you probably don't need to do that. That reminds me, a nice ravenfrost ring is essential as well. If you're a strafer, a Might merc will boost your dmg and his own as well, so that would be my choice. Wait a minute, shouldn't you be pumping dex pretty high as part of your build anyway? Sorry if some of this info isn't useful, I should really take a look at that gunslinger guide...
Well I use the titans mostly, with CS and LF, so phys immunes are not a problem for me because of my high lightning dmg. I use the bow/crossbow mostly just for LIs and if I'm running chaos (I can stand a screen away and multi or strafe, I use both, but mostly strafe)
Since I don't have godly gear and I wanted 700-800 life, I've got about 150 vita, and 200 dex. Quite a bit in str to be able to wear a monarch (I want to make a spirit monarch when I finally find a monarch). I need the high life otherwise I die from archers in a second :(
And when you mention demon's limb, I just googled it and I think I found that on a baalrun the other day! I could just enchant when I start a run, that would be nice. I didn't even notice it had enchant charges (if it indeed is what I found, I don't have time to check now)
thanks for the input.
As mentioned, enchant is the simplest way to get rid of your ar problems. Enchant from demon limb will give you more ar then you'd have from just maxed penetrate (what most non-faith pure bowzons would have).
Since the build should have decent to high dex, our base AR is high, and the extra percentage given by enchant should give plenty a boost.

It could be a hassle to have javelins on one switch, bow on the second and then you have to swap frominventory each time you want to use Demon Limb. But if you dont think so, then its ofc up to you.
About Eaglehorn, its a nice bow. Its a Wf light imo, doesnt have that extra punch, but it gets the job done. Ok damage, ITD and AR are good mods.
I just switch the titans for the limb and cast the spell, then switch back. It lasts pretty long, so I usually only have to do it once in each game. My ar is up to about 5k with it, which is way better than before. I'll still try to get a hold of some charms though. Hopefuly I'll get a wf soon, that will really up my chaos run time.
