View Full Version : WW Barb MLD help/advice
Im currently thinking about making a MLD Barb using WW and ive seen lvl 47-49's WW-Barbs own just anything with WW and their lightning fast, i really would like to make one and heres what i've made up so far.
**GEAR**
WEAPON: No idea.
SHIELD: Stormshield/Headhunter's Glory
HEAD: Arreat's
BODY: Shaftstop
BELT: String of Ears
BOOTS: No idea. (or should Goreriders work?)
GLOVES: No idea.
RING1: Ravenfrost
RING2: No idea.
AMULET: No idea.
**SKILLS**
No idea here either, i need some help on this section from you guys :wink:.
The level i will be should be level 71 (for Stormshield) or something low (around 30-60), i hope someone of you people can help me :scratchchin:

for lvl 49 you'd be using
oath sc
sanctuary hyperion
arreat
raven frost
angelic ring/ammy
shaftstop/GA/Smoke lots of good armor choices
gores
bloodfists/orphans
string of ears or a really really nice rare
MLD =/= 61. MLD is generally 31-49 some people go a bit higher for certain builds (ww sin i believe) but generally it stops there.
Erm.. Stormshield is level 73.
I've built an "MLD" at 49 (I don't know if the level range is accurate for your softcorers) it was a fury druid, relatively the same concept:
- Guillaume's Helm
- Oath Eth Small Crescent (quick little bugger, check breakpoints to find the best weapon for you)
- Sanctuary Troll Nest (think it was a trollnest)(I rolled a perfect one)
- Shaft
- String
- Gores
- Raven
- Angelics
Don't remember the gloves.
I'm sure you can stick Oath in something 2-handed.

Crawling: I've seen some MLD Barbs use Oath Highland Blade. Do you think the extraa range outweighs the bigger swing in damage?
I really appreciate the advice people just some more questions left:
Sanctuary Hyperion - Whats that? i know the sanctuary runeword and yes i got the runes except Mal for it but explain the Hyperion part.
Shaftstop - Should i up it?
after that i want to know how to spend the skill points...
EDIT: i think ill stick the Oath into a Highland blade cause it got 1 more in range and the damage diffrence aren't that big btw i think swords looks better than axes ^^
EDIT2: aren't the Cresent Moon runeword better than Oath cause Cresent Moon got the following:

Level 16 Heart Of Wolverine (20 Charges)
Level 17 Iron Golem (14 Charges)
Im a bit poor atm and i preffer Oath but Oath will make me have to finish my MF soso and MF for a couple of weeks to afford the losses from making the Oath, If i make a Cresent Moon will it be a bad choice?

Hyperion is a type of shield, just like monarch or aegis.
Upgraded shaft has a str req of 158 and a lvl req of 50+ (54 IIRC) so you can't upgrade it if you plan to make a lvl 49 char. Str requirement would also be too steep.
Only on-weapon ias counts towards whirlwind breakpoints which makes crescent moon a bad choice since you wouldn't reach 4 frame ww.

oops, yeah my bad. i was going mostly off of my experience with my 49 charger, highland blade is better for a barb since it's good range, speed, dmg, and the fact he can weild it one handed.
you cant up shaft and still have it be 49.
oath is in every way superior to everything else at that level (aside from a holy **** rare). you can make it in an eth base for one thing and for another it can get really, really high ed%.
by the way ITD doesnt work in pvp and nothing on crescent moon makes it worthwhile for this build.

Hmm, so all i need now are another ko and a pul and i can make all the runewords needed for the build. I got a Highland blade with 4os (non-eth)from a Dia run (dia runs <3) and all i need now are a 4os Hyperion right?

I built one last ladder, and it worked quite well. I should have placed points in some other skills, but it was my first barb, and concidering that it did better than expected. IIRC my gear was something like this:
Arreats
Duress/Shaftstop/GA (only vs bm people)
2x eth Oath Highland Blade for casters and eth Oath+Sancuary Hyperion.
IK gloves and belt for the HUGE stat increase. Once you got those on you got the Highland on as well.
Gores
For rings I switched between angelic rings and amu, raven frost, dwarf and a teleport amu.
In inven I had lots of 20 lifers, some maxers, fhr charms and frw charms. Not the best setup but got the job done.
As for the Hyperion shield, you want a 3 socket, not 4 socket since Sanctuary is made of Ko+Ko+Mal ;)

do not make oath in a non eth weapon, you lose half the reason to use it.
hyperion can only get 3 in anyway.
omg, i want to swear i just made oath in a non-eth wep, ;( it got 310% ED on it and around 300-400 dmg ;<
aw well now im screwed.. (guess ill use my non-eth until i get runes to make it in a eth one that will take a couple of days/weeks ;<)
i just need to know if i should have max block and how many dex points i need for max block AND how to spend my skill points.
