Hi!

I have been playing a lot of DIablo, but i have never made a PVP char and i have never really duelled with my pvm's!

So my qustion... Where do you duel? Random public games?
How deep do you consider PVP in diablo and how big a part of the game do you consider it?

I would love to get into PVP to add more to a great game.

You pretty much duel in Public Games that u should find in all difficultys, in duel games all gather at the exit to blood moor in rogue encampment act1. If your gonna make a PVP char which really aren't my speciality try to ask some people that are experienced with it for advice.

PvP in pretty much any game consists of a bunch of whiney kids who will trash talk you if they win, or complain and whine and ***** if they lose. If you win you are BM (bad manners) if you lose you are a noob or ezpk.

Rules - in public games forget it.
Runewords - use what you want.
Money - if you carry it someone will steal it when you die.
Tele - Yes if you have it use it.
Governed - ?? HAHA
Infractions? Generally dealt with by questioning your sexuality or calling you a noob.
Who's in Charge - You are, don't listen to any whiners, just kill em if you can.
Rules - Non existant in pub games, practice on random players in public games, then if you get good, look for some more organised pvp matches.

What kind of budget are you working with? There are some char's you can make on a moderate budget and hold your own. Although, many public games have people with incredible equipment with massive life and high dmg with game mods (hacks) that assist in killing. It's pretty ridiculous.

I'd say start looking at characters that you really like and begin asking questions about using them in pvp. That in combination of reading some of the pvp guides. Some guides will start by explaining that this char is not for the beginner in pvp....ofc avoid these. I'd recommend blizzard sorc, poison necro, trap sin and i hate to say it but smiter. All those characters are fairly easy to control and can do decent without insane gear. BUT... make sure you READ SOME GUIDES before you start building this char. If you don't read up you will be remaking your char.

...these are all so hackneyed

you can find a lot of GM dueling outside out pub pk games, either in clan dueling environments or just within informal friend networks. there might even be some general pk groups left on some of the realms.

...these are all so hackneyed

they apply to the vast majority of pub games.

you can find a lot of GM dueling outside out pub pk games, either in clan dueling environments or just within informal friend networks. there might even be some general pk groups left on some of the realms.

Which is pretty much what I said in my last line, practice in pub games then look for some more organised action.

thank you for information regarding dueling, pretty much anything goes? you mentioned public duels is there somewhere else to duel? are ladder duels better? i take it theres no teams dueling against each other like sports ie: west coast vs east coast etc.

Meh, you missed pvp at the best, before runewords... that is when diablo was at its greatest pvp wise, minus the hex charms and white rings of course.

Started playing this game again, but soon found out pvp is pretty much dominated by hammerdins/smiters/glitcherzons.

Very depressing... might even go back to WoW -_-.

Id also like to point out that the ladder only runewords is probably the worst idea ive ever seen in a game.... and most of it is due to the fact of how completely overpowered they are.

Enigma / grief / pheonix / ebotd all really ruined the game completely imo.. in that order.

Hopefully diablo 3 will bring back the good old days of diablo 2, though they said there will be no runewords (yay), i dont know which way they will take pvp, which makes me worried.

I hope they realize that the thing that kept people playing was the balance between pvp and pve, this has been proven via hellgate, seeing as how 90% of people who bought the game played through it and quit after about a month or two (nothing else to do!), soon after they added arenas (Which were REALLY HALF ASSED, actually more like quarter assed) but it was too late.
